ObjectiveIn order to investigate synergy in the recovery of hand function of cold-dampness blockage type of rheumatoid arthritis, the small sample randomized controlled clinical study compares two groups’curative effect on the recovery of hand dysfunction of cold-dampness blockage type of rheumatoid arthritis, the routine medication and the treatment including grain-sized moxibustion on the BaXie and the routine medication,Methods66 included patients, who were selected from the Rheumatism Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and of the Guangdong Province Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital during November 2014 to December 2015, were randomly divided into two groups.33 cases in control groups were treated by Methotrexate 12.5mg once a week and Celecoxib capsules 0.2g per time and twice a day for 2 weeks.33 cases in treatment groups were treated by the same medication in the control groups and rain-sized moxibustion on the BaXie on both sides. The rain-sized moxibustion were given one time a day and six times per week and last for 2 weeks. Observed short form of Signals of Functional Impairment, the clinical symptoms and signs including TCM syndrome integral, tender joint number, number of swollen joints, average grip strength of both hands, morning stiffness time and VAS amount and detected serum C reactive protein (CRP)and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) before and after treatment in order to compare the clinical effect of two methods.ResultsBefore treatment, there are no statistical difference of age, gender, course, the hand function classification and TCM syndrome integral between treatment group and control group (P>0.05), which means the two groups are comparable. In short form of Signals of Functional Impairment, the difference between two groups after treatment has statistical significance (P<0.05) and the treatment group was superior to the control group. In evaluation of curative effect of TCM Syndrome, in the control group 0 cases were markedly cured,3 cases were cured,22 cases effective,7 cases ineffective, and the total effective rate is 78.13%. In the treatment group 0 cases were cured,10 cases markedly effective,18 cases effective,2 cases ineffective and the total effective rate is 93.33%. The rank sum test show that the difference between groups was significant (P<0.05). The total efficiency of the treatment group was better than the control group. In TCM symptoms score, number of swollen joints, the time of morning stiffness and VAS, two groups after treatment were all better than before treatment (P<.05), the difference between two groups has statistical significance(P<0.05)and the treatment group was superior to the control group.Joint tenderness number, the average grip strength, Erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein each has obvious difference within each two groups (P <0.05), but no obvious difference between the two groups (P>0.05).ConclusionRoutine drug therapy and grain-sized moxibustion on the BaXie combined with routine drug treatment both have curative effect on recovery of hand dysfunction of cold-dampness blockage type of rheumatoid arthritis. The curative effect of treatment group surpasses the control group. Train-sized moxibustion on the BaXie combined with routine drug treatment has a better worl in short form of Signals of Functional Impairment, TCM syndrome integral, number of swollen joints, morning stiffness time and VAS table, indicating that the therapy combined with train-sized moxibustion on the BaXie to improve local symptoms and hand function can play to increase the efficacy.
