Objective:To research the clinical application of modified anterior approach to the treatment of ulnar coronoid fracture, which went through the space among brachial artery, vein and median nerve. Methods:From June 2012 to January 2013,11 ulnar coronoid fracture patients were treated by modified anterior approach. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss and postoperative complications were collected. The flexion and rotation range of motion about injured elbow and normal elbow were recorded during postoperative follow-up period. The function of elbow joint was evaluated by mayo elbow performance index. Results:There were approximate 8cm in length and 5cm in width between the brachial vessels and median nerve. There were the intraoperative operated angle of fifty degrees from radial to ulnar side and that of sixty degrees from proximal to distal end. There was no patients who were out of follow-up. All patients had healed properly. The MEPl of elbow joint were over 75 points in all cases. Conclusion:Modified anterior approach is relatively safe and simple in operation. The function recovery of elbow joint is complete. That can provide a new surgical approach for the treatment of coronoid process fracture.
