[Background]Rats have remarkable fertility. To explore the green and efficient deratization methods has been the common research targets of many researchers over the years. On the basis of the original drug deratization, rat poison box strengthens the management of rat poison, improves the deratization effect, accords with the requirements of long-term prevention and elimination of rats. Besides, it has the characteristics of safety, high efficiency, environmental protection and lasting effect. In recent years, the author has compared the rat control effects of rat poison box and dispersed rat poison dropping in urban communities. So far, there have been few comparative studies in this aspect.[Objective]To evaluate the recovery rate of rat poison and deratization effect by setting rat poison boxes in urban communities.[Methods]6 streets (2 communities in each street) in downtown Jiaxing were selected, and the experimental group and the control group were set up. In the experimental group, rat poison boxes with rat poison were placed, while the control group adopted the traditional deratization method, namely, the dispersed rat poison dropping. The rat poison recovery effect was compared through rat poison amount of the experimental group and control group. Besides, the density of rats was monitored through the powder trace method. The deratization effect was analyzed through the rat density before and after using rat poison box.[Results]Results of the rat poison recovery showed that recovery rate of the experimental group reached 75.46%, while that of the control group was only 9.39%. Through comparison, the rat poison recovery rate of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group.According to the deratization experiment, the density of rats the experimental group and the control group before the deratization (being 3.72% and 3.83% respectively) was compared, and P>0.05; there were no differences and no statistical significance between them. After the deratization, the density of rats in the experimental group and the control group was 1.67% and 2.89% respectively (P<0.05). The comparison of the deratization effect of experimental group and the control group showed the experimental group had better deratization effect. According to the comparison of communities at different eras, the rat density of older communities (2.5%) was lower than that of the control group (5.83%), (P<0.05), showing the older communities had lower rat density and better deratization effect than the control group. The comparison results of rat density of half-new community experimental group and the control group (beingl.5% and 2% respectively) showed P>0.05; there were no differences and no statistical significance. Besides, the comparison results of rat density of new community experimental group and control group (beingl% and 0.83% respectively) showed P>0.05; there were no differences and no statistical significance. The rat density in the experimental group was 3.72% before the deratization and 1.67% after the deratization respectively. The comparison results of experimental group before and after the deratization showed that P<0.05, and the rat density in the experimental group before the deratization was higher than that after the deratization. In addition, the rat density in the control group was 3.83% before the deratization and 2.89% after the deratization respectively. The comparison results of control group before and after the deratization showed P>0.05, and there were no differences and no statistical significance.[Conclusion]Poison rat box had better deratization effect and had higher poison recovery rate than the dispersed rat poison dropping. Therefore, it is advisable to widely use poison...
