Objective:The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficiency of Zhenggutuishou manipulation and Cewoxieban manipulation in patients who were diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation, and summarize the pros and cons of Zhenggutuishou manipulation, in order to provide evidence for its generalization.Methods:70 patients diagnosed with lumbar disc herniation were included in the study, who were admitted to the clinic of Quanzhou Orthopedic-traumatological Hospital of Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, from Jan2015 to Jan 2016.all these patients were eligible for inclusion in the study. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: Group 1 (n= 35) received Zhenggutuishou manipulation, Group 2 as control group (n= 35) received Cewoxieban manipulation. Comparing the changes between groups, statistically significant difference was observed in VAS score, JOA score, MMS and TIFA before the therapy and at the end of the therapy. The effectiveness was evaluated after the therapy, and we had recorded and analyzed the safety in the whole course. Finally SPSS20.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data, and we employed a significance level of 0.05.Results:1.After two weeks therapy, VAS score, JOA score, MMS and TIFA parameters had significantly difference within groups(P<0.05). There was also no significant difference between the groups in terms of VAS score and JOA score (P>0.05), but there was statistically significant difference in terms of MMS and TIFA, hence, treatment group have superior outcome. In addition, the VAS score significantly decreased in treatment group after every therapy.2. In the treatment group, after treatment,12 cases were cured,14 cases had remarkable effects,1 case had effect,2 cases was ineffective,1 case was lost, and the total efficiency was 94.1%; in the control group, after treatment,11 cases were cured,16cases had remarkable effects,5 case had effect,l case was ineffective,2 case was lost, the total efficiency was 97.0%.There was no difference between the two groups(P>0.05). In the process of treatment, both groups had no adverse events, so the probability of adverse events was 0%.Conclusion:1. Comparing the changes between groups, there was no statistically significant difference in terms of outcome between them at the end of therapy, but, Zhenggutuishou manipulation can quickly relieve the pain, improve the lumbar flexion range of motion and correct the zygapophyseal joint asymmetry.2. In the process of treatment, both groups had no adverse events. Therefore, Zhenggutuishou manipulation was a safe and efficient therapy for lumbar disc herniation which was worthy of clinical application.
