Objective:To observe the short-term effect of clinical application of legacy constrained condylar knee in treating complex gonarthrosis. Methods:The complex gonarthrosis in 5 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty in our department from July 2015 to December 2015 were collected. All the patients were treated with ZIMMER legacy constrained condyar knee system. Among them, there were 1 male and 4 female, with a median age of 58 years (range 50-65); which included 2 cases of primary total knee arthroplasty (1 case of traumatic arthritis and 1 case of tibia platform lesions) and 3 cases of revision total knee arthroplasty (all cases were postoperative prosthesis loosening). Hospital for Special surgery knee Score (HSS) and Knee Society Score (KSS) were used for comparison of the post-operation from the pre-operation at the time of follow-up evaluation. Results:All the patients were followed up at a median of 4.7 months (range 4-5). All of the patients were satisfied in daily activities at the time of the last follow-up. HSS and KSS scores of the post-operation were higher than the pre-operation.Conclusion:Total knee arthroplasty using legacy constrained condylar knee in the treatment of complex gonarthrosis was found favorable in the short-term effect. The surgery obviously relieved the knee pain, corrected the joint deformities, recovered joint function and improved the quality of life.
