ObjectiveTo investigate the status of nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice of surgical clinical nursing staff in the top three hospitals in city, and to understand the current situation of clinical nutrition nursing work in this city. To analyze the reasons for the poor clinical nutrition nursing, and to study the related factors influencing the nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice of the first line surgical clinical nurses, and to provide reference for the nutrition study of surgical nursing staff.MethodsBy convenient sampling method, the first-line surgical nurse in three top three hospitals in a city was investigated. The questionnaire is designed according to "The surgical nurses nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice questionnaire" which is published in 2006 in the United States by Judith and other references. According to the characteristics of surgical clinical nursing professional work in three top three hospitals in Jinan, "The surgical nurses nutrition knowledge attitude and practice questionnaire "was designed in the help of nutrition and nursing experts. The effective questionnaires were analyzed. All data were double checked, numbered, recorded the data by the Excel and established a database. SPSS 17.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data, and the data were analyzed by descriptive analysis, proportion ratio analysis, one-way analysis of variance and regression analysis. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results1. Nutrition knowledge score in different age, nursing work time, education, positional title, whether to participate in the study of nutrition continuing had significant differences. The results showed that in terms of age,25 years old group got the minimum nutrition knowledge score in all groups, above 40 years old group nutrition knowledge was the highest (p<0.05); nursing work time, nurses who worked for 6-10 years and 11-15 years got more nutrition knowledge scores than the other group (p<0.05); the three level education, secondary school group got least nutrition knowledge score, nursing staff which had bachelor degree or above got the highest score (p<0.05); the title, primary (people) got lower score than the primary (Division) and intermediate in nurses nutrition knowledge score(p<0.05); nurse staff participated in the study of nutrition continuing education got more score than that did not participated in the study. (p<0.05).2. Nutrition attitude scores in different age, degree, positional title, whether to participate in the study of nutrition continuing were significant different in the these aspects.. Results indicated that nurse staff younger than 25 years old had lower score than nurse staff over 40 years old (p<0.05);the three level education, secondary school group got lower nutrition attitude score than nursing staff which had bachelor degree or above (p<0.05); title, primary (people) got lower score than the primary (Division) and intermediate in nurses nutrition attitude score (p<0.05); nurse staff not participated in the study of nutrition continuing got less score than that participated in the study. (p<0.05).3. The practice of nutrition score in different degree, the positional title have significant differences. Results showed that in three degree levels, secondary school group nutrition practice score is the lowest, followed by the college group, undergraduate and above group got the highest score(p<0.05); the title, primary (people) got lower score, and the primary (Division) and intermediate got higher nutrition attitude score, and there are significant differences (p<0.05); nurse staff participated in the study of nutrition_continuing got more score than that not participated in the study. (p<0.05).Conclusion1. The city hospitals in surgical nursing staff had good level of nutrition knowledge, but special nutritional knowledge for disease needs to be strengthened, and knowledge of nutrition risk screening is insufficient; surgical nursing personnel of clinical nutrition attitude is good, but initiation learning nutritional knowledge is not high, and there still exist many serious problems in nutrition practice, there nurse did not provide effective nursing service;2. Surgical nursing personnel age, nursing work time, degree, positional title, whether to participate in the study of nutrition continuing education were the main factors which affecting the nutrition knowledge.3. Nursing managers should strengthen nutrition related management, develop in line with China’s national conditions of nutritional risk screening surface and the corresponding nursing measures, providing evidence for nurses in surgical clinical work;4. Surgical nursing staff should strengthen the nutrition knowledge and continuing education; improve nutrition KAP level and ultimately to provide excellent and effective nutrition nursing service for patients.
