| Objective: We will plan to enlarge sample size to study the qualitative and quantitive expression of nasal mucosa protective PACAP protein in CRSsNP and CRSwNP and refractory chronic rhinosinusitis by use of immunohistochemisty test,in order to explore the use of PACAP protein in pathogenesy, turnover and prognosis of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps,and in order to explore the correlation between PACAP protein and Chinese medicaltype of syndrome of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps.Methods: 53 nasal polypsã€70 chronic sinusitisã€28 refractory chronic rhinosinusitis and 20 control cases were chosen. All samples were stained with SP immunohistochemical method to examine PACAP protein. In addition, on the basis of medical history, medical examination, Chinese medical watch, smell, question, palpation and pulse-feeling, we make the zheng differentiation-classification of the patient. And the positive intensity of PACAP protein were linked with Chinese medical type of syndrome by statistics to explore the correlation between Chinese medical type of syndrome and positive intensity of PACAP protein.Results:(1)we found the positive intensity of PACAP protein were expressed in nasal epithelium mucosaeã€glandular epithelium and goblet cells;(2) We calculated that the constituent ratio among nasal polyps, chronic sinusitis, refractory chronic rhinosinusitis and normal nasal mucosa was different significantly(X2=140.902, p ﹤ 0.01).The positive intensity of nasal polyps was mainly “+â€, and the positive intensity of chronic sinusitis was mainly “+++â€, and the positive intensity of refractory chronic rhinosinusitis was mainly “- ~ +â€,and the positive intensity of normal nasal mucosa was mainly “++â€;(3) Chinese medical type of syndrome of chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps and positive intensity of PACAP protein were not correlative conspicuously.Conclusion: PACAP protein was important ingredient of the innate defense mechanism of nasal mucosa. When nasal mucosa was irritated by infectious agents or chemical factors, nasal epithelium mucosae 〠glandular epithelium and goblet cells, especially glandular epithelium hyperplasy reactively, which could produce anti-inflammatory agents such as PACAP protein todefend inflammation. The pathogenesy of nasal polyps and chronic sinusitis would declare the traditional Chinese medicine viewpoint “asthenia of healthy energy and pathogen stagnantâ€. And the Chinese medicine treatment is to regulate healthy atmosphere in order to support healthy energy to eliminate evils. |
