Objective: To investigate the variation of serum cystatin C level in knee osteoarthritis patients classified by abnormal hilit in Uyghur medicine and their correlations. Explore its role in early diagnosis, disease monitoring and dialectical Uygur medicine classification of abnormal hilit type of knee osteoarthritis, and provide theoretical basis for treatment of knee arthritis in Uygur Medicine.Method: Collected 660 cases of patients with knee osteoarthritis(OA) treated in Uygur Medicine Hospital during October 2013 to February 2015, and classified them into three different types in Uyghur Medicine as Shigao type abnormal balgham OA, SeWei abnormal balgham OA and abnormal savda type OA. Detected the serum level of cystatin –C of all the patients and compared its differences between the three groups.Result: We recruited 660 cases of OA patients, including 113 male cases and 547 female cases. The sex ratio was 1:4.84. Average age: 59.89±10.98. The positive rate of cystatin C was 57.6%(380/660), among which, the positive rate of cystatin C was 61.2%(167/273)in Shigao type abnormal balgham OA, 53.2%(115/216)in SeWei abnormal balgham OA and 57.9%(99/171)in abnormal savda type OA. There was statistical significance between the three types of OA(P<0.05). The positive rate of male and female was 63.7 %(72/113) and 56.3%(308/547). And no statistical significance was observed between male and female. Conclusion: We found that the serum level of cystatin-C in Uyghur medicine dialectical type of knee osteoarthritis patients had certain correlation with different types, the abnormal savda type OA was significantly higher than other two types. But it needs to be further explored to confirm the results. On the other hand, the results also proved the feasibility of the principle of Tonifying the kidney in the treatment of Uygur Medicine.
