BackgroundChildren with schizophrenia is a disease of children before 16 years old, children with schizophrenia has higher relapse rate,disability rate compared with the adult schizophrenia. The etiology of children with schizophrenia mainly include genetic organic and psychological factors. In psychological and social factors, life and family events may induce occurrence of symptoms of this disease. Most domestic and foreign studies have found that family environment and parenting style have important effects on children’s intelligence development, personality formation and mental health, family negative emotional expression, can not only make children appear schizophrenia attack or symptom aggravating, also affect the frequency of recurrence, and found that the parents of patients with schizophrenia have obvious improper parenting style. This study will explore the relationship between the symptoms of children’s schizophrenia and the function of family of children with schizophrenia.ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between the symptoms and the family environment, parental rearing style, family cohesion and adaptability in children with schizophrenia, in order to provide the theoretical basis for the development of family intervention plan, the implementation of family education measures.Methods1. This research mainly use the convenience sampling method, select 120 children with schizophrenia and age distribution 6~16years old, including 56 males and 64 females from September of 2014 to December of 2015 in one hospital as the research object.2. Use the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) to evaluate the symptoms of schizophrenia, use the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) to evaluate their cognitive function.The family environment was evaluated by Family Environment Scale (FES) and Egna Minnen av Barndoms Upp-forstran (EMBU) was used to evaluate the family education style, and Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale, Second Edition (FACES Ⅱ-CV) was used to evaluate the intimacy and adaptability of family. The children were differentiated to 2 groups according to PANSS and MMSE score, then compare their mean and difference of family environment, parental rearing pattern, family cohesion and adaptability score.3. Use SPSS 21 statistical software to analyze the results(x±s), the t test of independent samples was used for the comparison between groups.Results1.The score of the contradiction of FES in the patients with slow motion was higher than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (5.75±.957 vs 3.31±2.510, P=0.004). While the result of the entertainment was (2.75±1.258 vs 5.04±2.645,P= 0.023).2.The score of the intimacy of FACES Ⅱ-CV in the patients with lack of impulse control was lower than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (7.28±3.035 vs 9.00±0.00, P= 0.009).3.The score of the emotional warmth, understanding of mother’s EMBU in the patients with lack of impulse control was lower than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (56.81±6.025 vs 65.75±10.532, P= 0.034). While the score of the mother’s emotional warmth, understanding have no significant difference (55.17±12.123 vs 65.5±5.26, P=0.152).4.The score of the punishment, severe of father’s EMBU in the patients with short range memory disorder was higher than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (25.20±3.347 vs 20.00±1.871, P=0.016). While the result of the excessive interference was (51.40±4.393 vs 44.20±3.633, P= 0.022). While the score of the mother’s punishment, severe and excessive interference have no significant difference(22.45±8.238 vs 22.56±8.618, P=0.979).5.The score of the excessive preference to the tested subject of father’s EMBU in the patients with Illusion was higher than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (9.71±1.113 vs 7.33±2.082, P= 0.041). While the score of the father’s excessive preference to the tested has no significant difference (8.75±2.050 vs 9.50±2.878, P=0.503).6.The score of the Independence of FES in the patients with immediate language memory was higher than that of the patients without the symptom significantly (5.08±1.084 vs 5.94±0.938,P=0.028). And the result of obstacle language expression was (5.28±1.018 vs 6.08±0.996,P= 0.022).ConclusionFor the children with schizophrenia, the obstacles in performance, the impulse, the language barrier have significant relationship with the contradiction, entertainment, independence and intimacy of FES, will disorder, language barrier, and illusion have significant relationship with the emotional warmth and understanding of mother’s EMBU score, the punishment, severe, excessive interference and the excessive preference to the tested subject of father’s EMBU score.
