Clinical Observation Of Combination Therapy With Shenxiong Tongmai Granule And Aspirin Of Cerebral Infarction

BackgroundCerebral infarction, one of the three major diseases, affect human health seriously with high incidence, recurrence rate, disability and mortality. The recurrence rate of patient is high after the secondary prevention by taking aspirin, clopidogrel, etc. under the medicine guideline. Furthermore, the side effects of digestive tract is as high as 20%. Therefore, more patients seek the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)treatment for cerebral infarction recent years. So far, the TCM treatment method has been obtained some good results and showsa promising future.ObjectiveThe therapeutic effects were evaluated by use of the Shenxiong tongmai granule combined with aspirin on the cerebral infarction. The assessment on the recovery of neural function, the effect ofsecondary prevention and securitywas conducted.MethodUse the method of randomized controlled trials.Thecerebral infarctioncases who metinclusioncriteria were collected in the neurological department of Chengdu University of TCM from June 2013 to January 2014.The cases were randomly divided into test and control group. Two groups were both taken the basic treatment. The test group was treated by Shenxiong tongmai granulethree months and aspirin one year. On the contrast, the control group was onlytreated by aspirin one year.Main outcome measuresThe scores and changes of SSS scale and BI scale were evaluated within three periods:anterior treatment, one month posterior treatment and three month posterior treatment. During these periods, theneural malfunction and Self-care ability were estimated. Meanwhile, the test cases were followed-up and the cerebral hemorrhage, the recurrence and the side effects were observed.ResultsGroups:According design of experiment, the total number of cases is 72. Each group has 36 ones. In fact, there are 7 drop-out cases due to the combination use of other treatment drug, the adverse drug reaction and the loss of follow-up. The total number of cases is 65 actually and the drop-out rate is 9.72%. With consideration of sex, age, the course of disease and the weight of two group cases, the SSS scale and BI scale of two groups had no significant difference(p>0.05) and are comparable before treatment.The score of SSS scale:After one to three month treatment, the scores of SSS scale in both group increased.Further, the score of test group increased a lot. The difference of two group had significant difference (P<0.05) according to the T test.The score of BI scale:After one to three month treatment, the number of cases with moderate neural malfunction reduced in both group BI scale. In addition, the number of cases in test group reduce more than control group.The number difference of moderate neural malfunction cases in two group had significant difference (P<0.05) according to the chi-square test.The recurrencerate of cerebral infarction:The recurrence rate of test group is 3.03% while the control group is 12.5%. The Shenxiong tongmai granule which tend to reduce the recurrence rate of cerebral infarctionhad no significant difference. The cerebral hemorrhagedidn’t occur among the follow-up cases. The adverse reaction between two groups had no significant difference(p>0.05).ConclusionExperiments show that the Shenxiong tongmai granule can ameliorate neural malfunction, and improved the ability of self-care. It tend to reduce the recurrence rate and had no statistically significant. The side-effects rate of digestive tract didn’t increase.
