Objective In the guidance of the concept of Competency-based nursing education, to study the teaching intervention strategies of case based learning in combination with Authentic assessment,to apply in gynecology and obstetrical nursing teaching,to explore the application method and effect。MethodsParticipants:nursing undergraduates in grade 2010,2011 of Chongqing medical university(n=947); nursing undergraduates in grade 2011(n=556,intervention group); nursing undergraduates in grade 2010(n=391,control group).Interventions:case based learning in combination with Authentic assessment offered to staff in intervention group;Conventional teaching offered to staff in control group.Main outcome measures:scores of gynecology and obstetrical nursing course of two groups; teaching quality evaluations in gynecology and obstetrical nursing teachers’ classroom which are made by Two groups of students, peers and the experts;Investigation to attitudes and opinions of staff (intervention group),which are about the new teaching way.Results1.Course average grades of students in intervention group is better than those in control group,it show statistical significance (P<0.05), The final theory test scores of two groups show no statistical significance (P>0.05)2.As for teaching quality evaluations in gynecology and obstetrical nursing teachers’ classroom which are made by Two groups of students, peers and the experts,these in intervention group is better than those in control group (P<0.05).3.As for Investigation to attitudes and opinions of staff (intervention group),which are about the new teaching way, they are Overall good feedback.ConclusionsApplication of case based learning in combination with Authentic assessment in gynecology and obstetrical nursing teaching,it can promote development of the core ability of The nurse students,the teaching ability and the quality of teaching of teachers it is worth popularizing it in clinical teaching.
