Study On The Evaluation Index System For The Elderly To Stay In Elderly Homes

Objective:to define the content of evaluation for the elderly in the nursing homes,researching the implementation of assessment to stay in,exploring the feasibility to develop a set of assessment tools and indicators to suit the nursing homes,and guiding to accomplish the standardized,specialized and quantifiable assessment for the elderly to stay in the nursing homes.Methods:based on comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA), the evaluation index system was estanblished by qualitative and quantitative research methods. (1)Literature review method was employed to ascertain the situation of assessment for the elderly to stay in the nursing homes. (2)Depth interview method was employed to set primary and secondary indicator items.(3)Literature research method was employed to set the third level indicator items and establishe index system plans.(4)All indicator items were defined after two rounds Delphi expert advisory.(5)Analytic hierarchy analysis was employed to determine indicator weight coefficients.(6)In Qinggang senior care center of the first affiliated hospital of Chongqing medical university,thirty-six newly staying old people were assessed using the evaluation index system established to verify the efficacy.Results:(1)A set of evaluation index system for the elderly to stay in nursing homes was established, which consisted of 6 first-level indicators,including general information, physical condition, psychological factors, life style, family support and care needs, and 18 second-level indicators, as well as 62 third-level indicators.(2)In the study of 36 old people assessed by six medical personnel using the evaluation index system established, the secondary indicators consistency coefficientawas 0.747,(P <0.000).Conclusion The evaluation index system established is reliable and maneuverable,while providing an appropriate setting of weight coefficient value to meet the assessment needs for nursing homes.This system may be used to evaluate the elderly to stay in nursing homes scientifically and rationally.
