The Effect Of Intervention Based On Health Promotion Model For The Elderly In Nursing Homes

Objective The aims are to understand quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes,and to build a set of interventions to improve the quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes,and validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the protocols.Methods This study was divided into two parts: 1.The construction of intervention protocols which were based on the Health Promotion Model:The situation and influence factors of quality of life of the 340 elderly in nursing homes were analyzed through literature review and present survey,the first draft of the intervention protocols were formed,and the final intervention protocols ware formed through experts consultation.2.The elderly of two nursing homes in Zhengzhou city were selected,and 38 elderly were randomly assigned into intervention group and 37 elderly were randomly assigned into control group.The elderly in intervention group were intervened once a week for eight weeks,while the control group just received normal health education.The data were collected at pre-intervention,post-intervention,1 and 3 months after intervention.The effect of intervention protocols were evaluated by health promoting lifestyle scale,quality of life.The results were analyzed by SPSS17.0,and descriptive statistics,T test,chi-square Test and repetitive measurement deviation analysis.Results 1.The first part:the quality of life of the elderly in nursing homes was(126.71±12.28),which was lower than normal level,and it was affected by many factors,such as age,education,frailty and so on.2.The second part:(1)There are 75 cases after intervention,the intervention group was 38 cases,and control group was 37 cases;(2)The health promoting lifestyle score of the elderly increased after the intervention through repetitive measurement deviation analysis(P<0.05);(3)The quality of life of the elderly increased significantly after the intervention(P<0.05).Conclusion The intervention protocols based on the Health Promotion Model is easy to carry out,which can mobilize the enthusiasm of the elderly in nursing homes,promote the change of their healthy behavior,improve the quality of life,but the effects will decrease with the time pass by.
