Objective:To analyse the distribution of the KAP level and quality of life in type 2 diabetes mellitus and explore quality of life influencing factors, providing a reference evidence for formulation of diabetes prevention and control measures. Methods:Randomly selected type 2 diabetes mellitus patients over 18 years old in Chongqing Dianjiang and Yubei by four-stage stratified sampling method. We surveyed the general demographic information and KAP level of type 2 diabetes mellitus, evaluated the quality of life (QOL) of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients using diabetes Specific Quality of Life Scale (DSQL). The univariate analysis, Spearman correlation analysis and stepwise multivariate linear regression analysis were performed for QOL influencing factors of type 2 DM patients. Results:A total of 496 patients with an average age of 64.62±9.67 years old, the effective rate of 98.8%, Dianjiang 222 patients (44.8%),Yu-bei 274 patients (55.2%). The KAP average level of 50.78±11.46, the ratio of mean and out was 49.30 percent, the ratio of mean and out was highest for attitude score(82.18%), the ratio of mean and out was lowest for knowledge score(25.11%). The QOL average score of 60.53±14.69, the Dianjiang patients with poorer QOL than Yubei patients, the level of damage on the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients were physiological function, psychological function, treatment and social relationships, physiological function in patients with a worst of QOL. The DSQL dimensions with a higher ratio of problematic horizontal in patients were the frequency of visual difficulties, diabetes treatment satisfaction, the frequency of exchanging state of an illness and knowledge of disease with others, the degree of influence on daily life by diet control. The univariate analysis, Spearman correlation analysis and stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed that, the QOL influencing factors had sex, duration of disease, account, education level, the average monthly income, complications, whether to choose exercise therapy, glycemic control satisfaction. QOL score in female patients were higher than male patients, the female QOL was poorer than male; patients with the longer duration of disease, the lower QOL; urban patients with a better QOL than rural patients; the higher education level, the better QOL in patients; the better economic conditions, the better QOL in patients; the patients with complications had poor QOL; the patients who like the movement had better QOL; DSQL dimensions and QOL level were positively correlated with attitudes, behaviors, KAP overall level. Conclusions:The type 2 diabetes mellitus patients in Chongqing have poor QOL, the most serious damage is physiological function, the Dianjiang patients with poorer QOL than Yubei patients, the main problem of QOL in patients are severely impaired vision, diet control has a great impact on daily life, the diabetes treatment is not satisfied by patients and rarely communicate state of an illness and knowledge of disease with others, the QOL influencing factors in patients have sex, duration of disease, account, education level, the average monthly income, complications, whether to choose exercise therapy, glycemic control satisfaction. Health education should be strengthened with diabetes mellitus patients, improving diabetes mellitus patients awareness and self-management of, development of positive and optimistic attitude in patients, and to improve the QOL of diabetes mellitus patients.
