ObjectiveTo study the influence of Mild Cognitive Impairment(MCI) on the satisfaction and benefit of the hearing aids in patients with presbycusis by using Satisfaction with Amplification in Daily Life(SADL) and International Outcome Inventory for Hearing Aids(IOI-HA).MethodsNinety-two subjects who had been fitted for hearing aids over six monthes from audiology test center of our department was collected. All subjects were presbycusis with ages between 60 and 75 years-from Junior high school education to university education, suffering binaural moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss. The subjects were measured with Mo CA and were divided into two groups depending on the scores of Mo CA. Group of normal cognitive function consisted of fifty-two individuals whose scores of Mo CA were over 25, and group of MCI consisted of forty individuals whose scores of Mo CA were between 19 and 25.All subjects were measured with SADL and IOI-HA, and scores were calculated, including the average scores of SADL, the scores of four parts of SADL(that is the scores of positive effect、service and price、negative effect and personal image), and the scores of IOI-HA.Two independent-samples T test was used to compare the average scores of SADL, the scores of four parts of SADL and the scores of IOI-HA of the two groups. Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the average scores of SADL and the scores of Mo CA, the scores of IOI-HA and the scores of Mo CA, respectively.ResultsThe average scores of SADL, the scores of positive effect, the scores of service and price, the scores of IOI-HA were obviously higher in the group of normal cognitive function than in the group of MCI(p<0.05), but there were no significantly difference in the scores of negative effect and personal image between group of normal cognitive function and group of MCI(p>0.05). Significantly positive correlations were observed between the average scores of SADL and the scores of Mo CA(r=0.670,P=0.000), the scores of IOI-HA and the scores of Mo CA(r= 0.785,P=0.000).ConclusionCompared with patients with normal cognitive function, the satisfaction and benefit of hearing aids in patients with MCI was significantly lower. At the same time, the satisfaction and benefit of hearing aids was decreased with the cognitive function decrease.
