Objective:To discuss the risk factors associated with C5 palsy after cervical posterior single door vertebral canal plasty for multiple segmental cervical spondylosis. Methods:Select the patients of multiple segmental cervical spondylosis who treated by cervical posterior single door vertebral canal plasty from the second hospital of shanxi medical university from March 2011 to March 2014. Collect these patients medical records,Imaging data and Conduct regular follow-up after surgery.Admitted to hospital after cervical vertebra X-ray, CT and MRI,then treted by cervical posterior single door vertebral canal plasty, observe the curative effect.Collect multiple segmental cervical spondylosis patients medical records, Imaging these data for analysis, Extract the data:cervical curvature index, width of the intervertebral foramen at C5,location of The articular process.Comparisons were made with C5 nerve root palsy cases and no C5 nerve root palsy cases,Compared two groups of data.Through logistic regression analysis, assessment the risk factors associated with C5 palsy. Results:Study included 96 routine cervical posterior single door vertebral canal plasty consecutive cases,7 cases of C5 nerve root palsy, 89 cases of C5 nerve root palsy did not occur.Neck 5 nerve root palsy occurrence probability is 7.3%.Paralysis group with no paralysis in cervical intervertebral foramen width 5, as well as on articular process forwarddisplacement of the difference was statistically significant.Logistic regression statistical study conclusion shows that the first, second and third interval increase risk of C5 nerve root palsy of 66.140(95%CI,4.811-908.857),8.147(95%CI,0.575-115.141)and 3.554(95%CI,0.154-80.861) times. Conclusion:Preoperative C5 intervertebral foramen stenosis after open the door for cervical posterior single vertebral canal expanded C5 nerve root palsy of important risk factors.
