[OBJECT] We explore the effectiveness and safety of Benidipine Hydrochloride on the patients with essential hypertension complicated with chronic kidney disease based on published clinical research, and to offer medication guide for clinical doctors. [METHOD] Databases such as CNKI, WANFANG, VIP, CBM, Pubmed, ClinicalKey, Embase, Science Direct and Cochrane Library were searched for relevant randomized controlled clinical trials(RCT) up to March,2015. Two researchers assessed the quality and screened the clinical researches separately based on presurposed inclusion and exclusion criteria. The outcomes were synthesized with the software Revman5.0. [RESULT] We initially got 82 RCTs which met the inclusion criteria. After being screened critically according to inclusive and exclusive criteria and expelling repetitions, 15 RCTs were included in present study, out of which there were 16 clinical studies.According to the results of the meta-analysis: in the effect of increasing GFR, Benidipine Hydrochloride exerts equivalent efficacy compared with ACEI/ARB, no matter the observation is 6 months or 12 months(MD=-0.21,95% CI [-2.41, 1.71], P=0.83; MD=0.37,95% CI [-1.84,2.57], P=0.74); in the effect of decreasing the 24 h urinary protein, Benidipine Hydrochloride exerts equivalent efficacy compared with ACEI/ARB, no matter the observation duration is 3months or 6 months(MD=0.00, 95% CI [-0.04, 0.05], P=0.84 or MD=0.00, 95% CI [-0.01,0.01], P=0.74); in the effect of decreasing the SCr, Benidipine Hydrochloride exerts equivalent efficacy compared with L-type CCB,(MD=-0.02, 95% CI [-0.03,0.00], P=0.10), and with an obvious trend in a better efficacy. [CONCLUSION] Benidipine Hydrochloride exerts beneficial effectiveness on essential hypertensive with CKD. However, the number of RCTs included in present study is not enough and the quality is relatively lower. More relative RCTs with higher quality are expected to offer more reliable evidence to clinicians.
