Objective: This study conducts a questionnaire survey about the sleep quality and of the nursing staff, in order to understand the sleep quality of the nursing staff, analyze the factors influencing sleep quality of the nursing staff, and provide a scientific basis for the management Department to adopt the intervention policies, improve the working efficiency of the nursing staff and improve the sleep quality of the nursing staff.Research methods : Adopt the methods of cluster sampling and stratified sampling to collect data from January to May, 2014 by selecting 250 clinical nursing staff working in an Army General Hospital of Xinjiang for more than a year. The research tools included general information questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI), symptom checklist 90(SCL-90) and life event scale. SPSS13.0 software package was used for statistical description analysis after the data was input. Conduct the effects on quality of sleep of different demographic characteristics, psychological health status and life events. Have an analysis of the influencing factors of the nursing staff’s sleep quality with multiple linear regression method and explore the factors affecting nurses’ sleep quality.Results:1. Compared to the similar studies, the sleep quality index of the nursing staff of an army hospital of Xinjiang is higher. The difference has statistically significant(P < 0.01).2. Pittsburgh sleep quality index score of the nursing staff of an army hospital of Xinjiang is 8.14±3.29. The lowest score is 0 point, the highest score is 16 points. Scores over 8 points account for 46%.3. Comparison of different ages. The sleep disturbance score below 25 years old is lower than that of 26-30 years old. The differences below 25 years and above 30 years old, below 26-30 years old and above 30 years old are not significant.4. The nursing staff without children have a lower sleep efficiency and hypnotic score than those with children.5. Comparison of different lengths of service. The sleep disturbance scores of the nursing staff whose service length is 1-5 years are lower than those of 6-10 years.6. Unmarried nurses have a lower score than married nurses in sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep disorder and sleep quality index.7. Comparison of different titles. Senior nurses have higher scores than nurses and deputy director nurse in sleep time and sleep quality and index total score.8. The nursing staff on the night shift nurses have higher scores than those without the night shift in sleep quality, sleep time, sleep disorders, daytime dysfunction and sleep quality index.9. The sleep quality dimension and psychological symptoms dimension are positively related.Conclusion:The nursing staff of a comprehensive military hospital of Xinjiang have poor sleep quality.The nursing staff of a comprehensive military hospital of Xinjiang have differences in age, education, workingyears, departments and the marriage gap.The sleep quality of the nursing staff of a comprehensive military hospital of Xinjiang is related to the level of mental health.
