Objective:The thesis aims to compare different efficacy of pure plasma radiofrequency ablation and the combination of plasma radiofrequency ablation and ozone injection on lumbar disc herniation treatment. Methods:This study collected cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation from October 2013 to September 2014 in No. 2 Hospital of Shanxi Medical University. According to the diagnosis and treatment criteria, 40 cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation were investigated and selected as the study objects(The operation process was completed by one doctor). The patients were divided into two groups: Group A(20 cases) were treated by the combination of plasma radiofrequency ablation and ozone injection; Group B(20 cases)were treated by the plasma radiofrequency ablation alone. Furthermore, the study analyzed different therapy phases of patients including pre-operation, one week after operation, one month later, three months later and six months later via Macnab and VAS assessment.Afterwards, different efficacy of the two therapies were compared and analyzed.Results:1、Macnab Assessment: According to Macnab assessment standard, the excellent and good rate of Group A was 75% one week after operation, whereas Group B was 55%. The excellent and good rate of Group A and B one month later were 85% and 60%, respectively.Three months after treatment, the rate were 90% and 60%. The rate of Group A and B increased to 95%, and 65% six months later. By comparing the excellent and good rate of Group A and B with Chi-square test, the χ2-value after one week, one month and three months’ treatment were 0.11(P>0.05), 0.06(P>0.05) and 0.03(P>0.05), respectively. Thus, the difference was not statistically significant. Whereas, the χ2-value after treatment was0.02(P=0.04) which was statistically significant.2、VAS Assessment: According to VAS assessment standard, the VAS score of Group A before treatment was 8.15±1.42. After treatment, the VAS scores of Group A were2.75±0.55, 2.35±0.49, 1.80±0.41 and 1.17±0.51 corresponding to one week later, one month later, three months later and six months later. The difference value before treatment and six months after treatment were statistically significant via T-test(P<0.05). The VAS scores of Group B in the five different phases were 7.90±1.29, 3.00±0.46, 2.60±0.75,1.95±0.60 and 1.54±0.60, respectively. The difference value of Group B before treatment and six months after treatment were statistically significant via T-test(P<0.05). Compared the VAS scores between Group A and B in different phases, the difference value before treatment, one week and one month after treatment were not statistically significant by T-test(P>0.05). However, the difference value after three months and six months’ treatment were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:The clinical efficacy of combining the plasma radiofrequency ablation and ozone injection on lumbar disc herniation is more obvious and stable in long-term treatment than the pure plasma radiofrequency ablation.
