Objective:To evaluate the effectiveness of radiofrequency ablation combined with ozone for lumbar disc herniation.Method:Systematic and comprehensive databases search was performed in PubMed (1966~2013.6)、CENTRAL (1996~2013.6)、SCI (1961~2013.6)、 EMBASE.com (1966~2013.6)、Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (1978~2013.6)、Wanfang database (1977~2013.6)、China National Knowledge Infrastructure (1994~2013.6), et al. The searches were performed in22June2013. According to inclusion and exclusion criteria, two reviewers independently selected, assessed included trials. The risk of bias tool described in the Cochrane Handbook version5.1.0were used to assess the quality of each trials. Meta-analysis was performed by RevMan5.2software.Results:8RCTs involving662patients met inclusion criteria. The results of meta-analysis showed compared with ozone alone, which considered as reference standard, following outcomes had statistically significant difference for radiofrequency ablation in treating lumbar disc herniation at the one week, three months and six months intervals (p<0.05):(1) the good rates were [RR=0.41,95%CI(0.24,0.70), P=0.001; RR=0.36,95%CI(0.21,0.59), P<0.0001; RR=0.24,95%CI(0.14,0.43), P=0.00001], respectively;(2) the effective rate were [RR=0.31,95%CI(0.12,0.82), P=0.02; RR=0.28,95%CI(0.09,0.84), P=0.02; RR=0.22,95%CI(0.06,0.80), P=0.02], respectively;(3) the VAS score was [MD=-1.06,95%CI(-1.83,-0.28), P=0.007].Conclusion:The current evidence indicates that radiofrequency ablation combined with ozone is effective and feasible for the lumbar disc herniation patients, with recovery fast, pain relief, safety and effectiveness et al features in postoperative.. It is worthy of clinical application.
