Objective:The aim of the present paper was to observe the characteristics of the images taken by magnetic resonance imaging(MRI) showing the peripheral displacement of the meniscus under load, and to explore the clinical significance. Methods:A total of 300 cases knee joints taking the knee MRI from the December 2013 to the October 2014 in the Second Hospital of Shanxi Medical University, were collected.Including( 148 patients) 240 cases knee joints consistent with the diagnosis of osteoarthritis as the observation group,(30 healthy volunteers)60 cases knee joints as a control group, to analyze the incidence of the peripheral displacement of the meniscus and to analyze by the gression index as the quantitative standard combined with the age and other information etc. Results:A total of 62 cases of the peripheral meniscus gression of knee joints were included, contained 8 cases of the lateral meniscus gression and 54 cases of the medial meniscus gression. The total incidence was 20.7%. The ratio of the incidence of the lateral peripheral meniscus gression and the medial peripheral meniscus gression was 1:6.75. The incidence and the gression index of the knee osteoarthritis was statistically significant(P<0.05). The average of the gression index in all cases was 0.4170±0.1567. The incidence and the gression index of each age group were different statistically(P< 0.05). A significant difference was found between the incidence and the gression index of the young adults and the elderly(P<0.05).Conclusion:Under compressive loads of osteoarthritis group(observation group) and normal volunteers(control group) were compared, find that the incidence and displacement index of osteoarthritis group(observation group) is significantly higher than normal volunteers group(control group); Under compressive loads of osteoarthritis group(observation group)with meniscus peripheral displacement rate and displacement of each age group and young adults and elderly group of osteoarthritis group(observation group) are compared, found that the incidence with age and displacement index is increasing gradually.
