ObjectiveTo describe the level of posttraumatic growth(PTG) in productive age women with cervical cancer and hysterectomy, to identify factors that influence the PTG of the survivors, to explore the relationship between PTG and quality of sexual life. The aim of this study is to provide basis for clinical intervention and promote clinical nurses to help patients to reach better state of body and mind.MethodsIn this study, convenient sampling method was used and 155 patients that meet the standar were chosen from 2 A-level hospitals in Jiangxi province form 06/2014 to02/2015. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory(PTGI) and Female Sexual Functioning Index(FSFI) were used in the research. SPSS(version 17.0) was used for statistical analysis which included 5 aspects: statistical description, anova, t test, pearson correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.Results1.Totally 155 patients who meeting the standard were investigated, only 132 effective questionnaires were retracted, so the effective questionnaire rate was 85.2%.2.The average score of PTGI of productive age women with cervical cancer and hysterectomy was(60.54±13.68).The average score of dimensions from high to low order were appreciation for life(3.58±0.78), enhance of personal strength(3.21±0.75),change of spirit(2.94±0.75), new possibilities(2.76±0.98) and the relationship with others(2.14±0.50).3.80.3% of patients were suffering sexual dysfunction and 25.8% of patients had no sex nearly 4 weeks in this study. The total score of FSFI and each dimension in this study were significantly lower than the domestic norm(P < 0.01).The score of sexual arousal and lubrication degree of vagina were significantly higher than the similar research(P < 0.01), but the score of sexual satisfaction was lower than the similar research(P<0.05).4.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that the total score of PTGI was affected by sexual satisfaction, clinicopathologic stage, the end time of treatment and age successively, and. these four factors accounting for 43% of the variation in total scores. The coefficient is 0.43, F=24.1, P<0.01, which indicates that the regression equation model has satistical significance. In addition, educational level, complications and treatment methods were respectively added into the regression equation of appreciation for life, enhance of personal strength and the relationship with others.Conclusions1.The PTG of in productive age women with cervical cancer and hysterectomy was medium level. The average score of appreciation for life was the highest, and the the relationship with others was the lowest.2.The majority of patients in this study were suffering sexual dysfunction.3.The patients’ level of PTG was affected by age, educational level, clinicopathologic stage, the end time of treatment, treatment methods and complications. The total score of PTGI was positively associated with patients’ age and the end time of treatment. The total score of PTGI was negative associated with clinicopathologic stage. The higher educational level, the higher degree of appreciation for life. The score of personal strength will be higher if the patient has no complications. The score of relationship with others will be higher if the patient only has surgical treatment.4.The patients’ quality of sexual life affected the level of PTG, and they had a significant positive correlation. So improving the quality of patients’ sexual life can enhance their psychological situations.
