Healthcare information is an important part of our healthcare reform, it’s becoming a strong technical platform for healthcare reform support and service paradigm transform. Currently, the overall development trend of our healthcare information industry presents regionalization and collaborative. Along with the progress of society, the single regional healthcare management model has been unable to meet the growing demand for medical resource for the majority of residents. Therefore, the cross-regional healthcare sharind and collaborative model has become the inevitable trend of regional healthcare information technology development. Cross-regional healthcare information is a special type of regional healthcare information. It’s mainly to achieve business collaboration between different regionals based on information sharing and provides a convenient treatment for cross-regional patients.Firstly, combined with the actual needs of the current cross-regional medical services, this paper analyzes the situation, problems, root causes and business scenarios of the cross-regional medical, reflecting the trend of cross-regional medical services. For strong demand of cross-regional medical, this paper gives the overall design of the system. It gives the corresponding design of the deployment and architecture of the platform; the registry of cross-regional patients, platform, health events and documents; the integration of data, service and process.Secondly, this paper focuses on the key technology solutions of the cross-regional medical collaboration. Mainly described in detail for the technology for identity of the patient’s unique identification and dual sharing of health information. The former implementation uses the cross-indexing techniques and algorithms. The latter is use the multi-level XDS which is extended of IHE-XDS technology. It implements the storage, registration, indexing and access technology of the relevant events and distributed document.Next, some typical applications and implementations of cross-regional medical collaboration are described. It includes cross-regional sharing of medical documents, health events and image information. For each application it gives the corresponding requirements description and function description. For further it gives the corresponding instructions to related applications of cross-regional medical collaboration. It includes the demand description and functional description for booking services, referral services and commissioned diagnostic services of cross-regional medical.Finally, this paper summarized the application of cross-regional medical collaboration and prospected the future of application. Reuslt of this paper has expanded the application ofthree city in the Yangtze River Delta region. Through the establishment of cross-regional PHR, patients can reduce the repetitive inspections and saving medical costs during the treatment process; doctors can access cross-regional PHR, reduce the rate of misdiagnosis, and can provide remote consultation service; hospitals can improve their management level; government department can analysis the sharing data, to provide strong regulatory system for medical industry and reduce medical risks. So the research of cross-regional healthcare information has a positive meaning for the promotion of regional healthcare information industry development and the steady growth of resident’s health and national economy.
