The Clinical Study Of Six Anshen Points As Main Therapy In The Treatment Of Muscle Based Pain Of Temporomandibular Disorders

Objective:To observe the influences of acupuncture therapy with temporomandibular joint local points combined with Six Anshen points on pain and mental condition for patients with TMD muscle based pain, and discuss its clinical effect in order to provide more remarkable curative effect and more secure treatment of the therapy for patients with TMD pain, provide a better treatment for the disease.Methods:In accordance with the unified diagnosis, inclusion and exclusion criteria, selected 92 patients diagnosed with TMD muscle based pain from outpatient service of Lishui Central Hospital, the eligible patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group (each n=46). Treatment group used acupuncture therapy with temporomandibular joint local points combined with Six Anshen points(a total of six points:ear points Xin, Fei,Shenmen and body points Yingxiang(LI20), Anmian, Zusanli(ST36)), while control group used acupuncture therapy with temporomandibular joint local points combined with Tinghui(GB2), Shangguan(GB3), Quanliao(SI18), Yifeng(SJ17), Fengchi(GB20), Hegu(LI4); temporomandibular joint local points both select Xiaguan(ST7), Jiache(ST6). Treatment once a day,10 days as a course; every course between the interval of 3-5 days; both groups received summary after 2 courses of treatment; no other therapies . were allowed during treatment, observe and record any adverse events during treatment, etc. Using Symptom Check list-90(SCL-90) classification to assess mental condition, visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores Graded scale (GS) to assess pain intensity. Percentage of VAS pain relief and the evalution of reduction rate of SCL-90 total score as the overall curative effect evaluation index Before and after treatment, to evaluate the therapeutic effect of acupuncture therapy with Six Anshen points mainly on pain and mental condition for patients with TMD muscle based pain. Finally the results received summary statistics, all data applied SPSS 17.0 software package for processing and analysis.Results:The actual completion patients were 83 including 42 cases of treatment group,41 cases in the control group. In pain relief, comparison of the VAS values in the two groups before and after treatment, showed that both groups’pain had been relieved to a certain extend after treatment, suggested that both groups’pain treatment had significant curative effects (P<0.05); Comparison of the VAS values in the two groups after treatment, showed that the VAS values of the treatment group decreased more than that of the control group, suggested that the pain treatment effect of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05); Comparison of the pain relief percentage of VAS values of the two groups after treatment, showed that the differences were statistically significant between the treatment group and the control group in various aspects of markedly effective、effective% ineffective, suggested that the degree of both groups’ pain relief were significantly different, the pain curative effects of the treatment of Six Anshen points as main acupuncture therapy for patients with TMD muscle based pain was obviously better than the ordinary acupuncture(P<0.05). In mental condition improvement, comparison of the total scores of SCL-90 in each group before and after treatment, showed that both groups’mental condition had been alleviated to a certain extend after treatment, suggested that both groups’mental condition treatment had significant curative effects (P<0.05); Comparison of the total scores of SCL-90 between the two groups after treatment, showed that the total scores of SCL-90 of the treatment group decreased more than that of the control group, suggested that the mental condition treatment effect of the treatment group was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05); Comparison of the total scores reduction rate of SCL-90 of the two groups after treatment, showed that the differences were statistically significant between the treatment group and the control group in various aspects of markedly effective-. effective、ineffective, suggested that the degree of both groups’mental condition were significantly different, the mental condition curative effects of the treatment of Six Anshen points as main acupuncture therapy for patients with TMD muscle based pain was obviously better than the ordinary acupuncture(P<0.05).Conclusion:For the treatment of patients with TMD muscle based pain, compared the treatment group of Six Anshen points as main acupuncture therapy with the control group of ordinary acupuncture, the curative effects of the treatment group was significantly better than the control group in pain relief and mental condition improvement, worth clinical further popularization and application.
