The plasma concentration of homocyteine(HCY) and uric acid(UA) were analyzed to explore the relationship of UA and HCY with the risk of ederly isolated systolic hypertension(ISH) with cardiac structures.165 patients with elderly isolated systolic hypertension were given an examination on ultrasonic cardiography, which was used to measure left artery diameter(LAD), left ventricular diastolic diameter(LVDd), inter ventricular septum thickness(IVST), left ventricular posterior wall thickness(LVPWT) and Body Surface Area(BSA). According to Devereux formula, left ventricular mass(LVM) and left ventricular mass index(LVMI) were calculated.According to LVMI、IVDS、LVPWT、LVEDD、LAD,Patients were divided into without left atrial enlarged and left ventricular hypertrophy(A) group, 63 patients, including 21 males, 42 females, mean age(67.51±6.01) years; only with left atrial enlarged(B)group, 41 patients, including 12 males,29 females, mean age(68.83±5.84)years; only with left ventricular hypertrophy(C)group, 33 patients,including 10 males,23 females, mean age(67.73±4.64) years; with left atrial enlarged and left ventricular hypertrophy(D)group,28 patients,including 7 males, 21 females, mean age(67.89±5.10) years. All the patients were all measured clinical blood pressure and fasting plasma glucose, lipid, HCY,UA were tested to analyze the relationship between HCY, UA and cardiac structures in ederly Isolated Systolic Hypertension.Result:(1) HCY level in B、C、D group were obviously higher than in A group(P<0.05), while there was no statistical significant difference between the four groups in the level of UA(p>0.05);(2) HCY level in D group were obviously higher than in A、B、C group(P<0.05), while there was no statistical significant difference between the four groups in the level of UA(p>0.05);(3)Pearson correlation analysis indicated that there was a positive correlation between HCY and LAD, LVMI and no relationship between UA and LAD,LVMI;The logistic regression analyses show that HCYmay be a risk factor for cardiac structures in ISH.Conclusion:Among these elderly isolated systolic hypertension(ISH)patients, LAD and LVMI is positively correlated with the level of HCY and has no apparent correlation with UA level; HCY increases can make the risk of cardiac structures increased.
