Effect Of Compound Qima Capsule On Isolated Systolic Hypertension In Elderly Patients With Arterial Elasticity

Objective:To observe the effects of Compound Qima Capsule on clinical symptoms, blood pressure and arterial stiffness in elderly ISH patients, to investigate thepreventive and therapeutic effects of Chinese medicine on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular events.Methods:81cases of patients with simple systolic hypertension were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control group, the treatment group has41cases and the control group has40cases and1case of the control group was lost.The control group is only received routine treatment by using Nifedipine Controlled Release Tablets, The treatment group is given Nifedipine controlled release tablets and Compound Qima Capsule.This research period is6months, to observe the changes of clinical symptoms, blood pressure and plasma homocysteine, carotid intima-media thickness, wavevelocity and ankle brachial index before and after treatment. Result:(1) On the blood pressure effect, the systolic blood pressure of the two groups were significantly decreased (P<0.001), the treatment group decreased more significantly, the differences between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01). there is no differences between diastolic blood pressure in them(P>0.05). So the pulse pressure of the treatment group decreased more significantly than the control group.(2) The clinical symptoms of TCM, the TCM symptom score lower amplitude of the treatment group decreased significantly than that of the control group, after treatment, the differences between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.01); Hand syndrome curative effect, the total effective rate of treatment group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05). showed that the treatment group is better than the control group in improving symptoms significantly.(3) Before treatment, the two groups of treatment blood levels of homocysteine, carotid intima-media thickness, pulse wave velocity, ankle brachial index showed no significant difference. After treatment, the blood homocysteine of the treatment group decreased significantly greater than the control group, there is statistically significant difference between the two groups (P<0.01). Also the arterial intima-media thickness (IMT) of the treatment group reduced the magnitude of increased obviously compared with the control group, there was statistically significant difference between the two groups(P<0.05). After treatment, the pulse wave propagation velocity pulse wave velocity of the treatment group increases less than the control group, the difference was statistically significant between the two groups(P<0.01). After treatment, the ankle brachial index of the treatment group does not change significantly, but that of the control group’s decreased (P<0.01).Conclusion:Compound Qima capsule can significantly improve clinical symptoms of elderly patients with ISH, control blood pressure better, reduce or delay in patients with arteriosclerosis degree, have the effect of prevention and treatment of cardiovascular events.
