Objective:To observe the long-term efficacy of electro-acupuncture treatment for women with stress urinary incontinence(SUI).Methods:Forty-two cases of women patients with SUI were divided into treatment group(21) and control group (21) by the central randomization system. In treatment group(/in electro-acupuncture treatment),acupuncture points were bilateral Zhongliao and Huiyang points, and treatment is given electro-acupuncture deep needling. In control group(/in sham-acupuncture treatment),acupuncture points were bilateral Nonpoints which next to Zhongliao and Huiyang points apart 1 inch, and treatment is given sham acupuncture.Frequency of treatment is three times a week, every other day for one time, each time for thirty minutes, for 18 times. To record 72 hours level of urinary incontinence, urinary incontinence symptom score before treatment and the amount of urine leakage,72 hours level of urinary incontinence, urinary incontinence symptom score at 15-18/27-30 weeks after treatment. Compared these data to explore the long-term efficacy of eletro-acupuncture treatment for women with SUI.Results:① Compared the amount of urinary incontinence:The amount of urinary incontinence in treatment group is lower than that in control group at 15-18 weeks after treatment, and it has statistical significance(P<0.05).The difference of the amount of urinary incontinence between treatment group and control group at 27~30 weeks after treatment has no statistical significance(P>0.05)②Compared the level of urinary incontinence:The level of urinary incontinence in treatment group is lower than that in control group at the same observation point, and it has statistical significance(P<0.05).In treatment group, The level of urinary incontinence at each observation point after treatment is lower than that before treatment, and it has statistical significance(P<0.05).The difference of the level of urinary incontinence before and after treatment in control group has no statistical significance(P>0.05).③Compared urinary incontinence symptom score:Compared between two groups:Urinary incontinence symptom score of treatment is lower than that of control group at 18 and 30 weeks after treatment, and it has statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared in the same group:In treatment group, urinary incontinence symptom score at 18 and 30 weeks after treatment is lower than that before treatment, and it has statistical significance(P<0.05);urinary incontinence symptom score at 30 weeks after treatment is higher than that at 18 weeks after treatment, but it has no statistical significance(P>0.05).In control group, the difference of urinary incontinence symptom score before treatment and at 18 and 30 weeks after treatment has no statistical significance(P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)Compared with the sham acupuncture group,electro-acupuncture significantly reduce the times of urinary incontinence of the patients, the long-term efficacy is unstable;(2) Compared to sham acupuncture group, EA can significantly reduce the degree of urinary incontinence and the long-term efficacy is stable.(3) Judging from the symptom score, EA can significantly reduce the symptom score of patients with urinary incontinence, and the long-term efficacy is stable.(4) The above three points indicate that electro-acupuncture has obvious medium-term effect to treat women with SUI, but its long-term effect is not clear.
