Background and PurposeSpace launch is a basic work and key steps in space flight, it related to space flight success or fail and the process of human space travel. It requires tested soldiers must have good physical and mental qualities, so that soldiers can adapt the high frequency emission, high-tech content, high tension and difficult task. However, at present in our country, almost nobody researched in this area, only Wang Fu-Rong’s team ever did a research in this area, but until now, nobody has done a personality traits research, to research space launch soldiers’ competence characteristics, it can not only provide theoretical basis on the selection of soldiers and officers, but also point out the right way of their training, it will promote our aerospace industry development.Competency refers to certain jobs or positions, to distinguish outstanding performance and the performance of the ordinary. These qualities are innate individual has, the more durable and cannot be easily imitated qualities. Once you have the competency, you can adapt job’s requirement, also more easily reach success. To research space launch soldiers’ personality traits and competency, it will help us know space launch outstanding soldiers’ intrinsic qualities and provide the basis for selection.However, at present, in china there is no any research on space launch soldier’s competency. therefore, in this study, 16 PF scales, job analysis questionnaire to all space launch within a unit of space launce base tested soldiers conducted a survey, and extracts of which the outstanding performance and the performance of ordinary soldiers were tested behavioral event interview, designed to extract the space launch tested competency of officers and soldiers, officers and tested for space launch selection to provide relevant information.Subjects and methods1. Research SubjectsA. Questionnaire Objects: The study is based on a space launch base in place of all the officers and men. The research investigated 350 soldiers and officers, including 16 PF questionnaire and job analysis questionnaire. Take back effective 16 PF questionnaire 324, efficiency 92.6%, take back effective job analysis questionnaire 343, efficiency 98%.B. Behavioral event interview object: Referring to Li Zhi and other officers for outstanding grassroots standard definition(that is at the base of work more than two years, won the outstanding soldiers, outstanding officer title, won the individual award third class and above), combined with the performance of the officers and men usually show(outstanding: job seriously, proactive, quality and quantity to complete the assigned tasks, high work efficiency; ordinary: enthusiasm for the job is not enough, low work efficiency), finally, the conditions provided by the base according to the research group. Combined with performance of the tested soldiers in peacetime, recommend excellent 32 soldiers and ordinary 32 soldiers to Task Force and carry on behavioral event interview.2. Research Method:The first part of this study, using 16 PF Scale to survey soldiers’ Competency, after data analyzed by SPSS21.0 statistical software, then compared with Norm Chinese soldiers Competency, then obtain space launch soldier’s competency, and further analysis of their differences in age, education and rank.The second part of this study, using job analysis questionnaire and behavioral event interview to survey space launch soldier’s competency. Job analysis questionnaire survey space launch soldiers from working time, work summary, work activities and errors in the work affected, extracted required competency of space launch soldier from the working angle, through outstanding performance and ordinary performance conducted behavioral event interview, invite professional translator translate interview recording data to text, then extracted competency by using Nvivo 10.0 software, finally analysis by using SPSS21.0 software, summarized space launch soldier’s competency.Result:1. Space launch soldier’s competency in B、C、G、I、L、O、Q2、Q3etc is significantly higher than the norm of Chinese soldiers. In A、E、H、N、Q1 is significantly lower than norm of Chinese soldiers.(p<0.05)2. Different rank’s space launch soldiers have significant difference in A、B、C、L、O、Q2、Q4、X1、X2、X4、Y1、Y3、Y4 the higher the rank, the B、Q2 higherscore, in A、X2 lower scores. In C、X4、Y1、Y3、Y4 score firstly increase then decrease trend. In O、Q4、X1 score firstly increase, then decrease trend. Post-mortem examination found that the difference between the officers and soldiers mainly in the A、B、Q2、Q4、X1、X4、Y3、Y4 among other factors. Offices and soldiers of the major differences exist in A、C、Q2、X2、X4、Y1、Y3、Y4 fators. The mail difference between the soldiers and noncommissioned exists between C、L、O、Q4、X1、X2、Y1 factors(P<0.05).3. Differnt age’s space launch soldiers have significant difference in C、H、M、O、Q2、X1、X2、Y1、Y3(P<0.05)with age up, space launch soldiers in O,X1 scores and other factors on the rise. In C、H、M、X2、Y1 score decrease trend, in Q2、Y3 firslty increase, then decrease trend. After compared, found less than and equal 20 year-old group and 21-30 age group the mainly difference in C、Q2、X2、Y1、Y3. Less than and equal 20 year-old group and 30 age group mainly difference in C、H、M、O、Q2、X1、X2、Y1 factors. 21-30 age group and more than 30 age mainly difference in M、X1 factors(P <0.05).4. Different educational background’s space launch soldiers have significant difference(P<0.05) in A、B、C、H、L、N、O、Q2、X1、X2、X4、Y1、Y3、Y4 factors.Higher education, B、Q2、X4、Y3、Y4 higher scores. In A、N、X2 score lower. In C、H,Y1 score firstly decrease, then increase trend; in L、O、X1 score firstly increase, then decrease. After compared, found have difference only in L between undergraduate course and above and college. Found have difference in A、B、C、H、N、O、Q2、X2、X4、Y1、Y3、Y4 factors between undergraduate course and above and college and under. Found have difference in A、C、H、L、O、Q2、X1、X2、Y1、Y3 factors between college group and college and under(P<0.05).5. Through job analysis questionnaires to extract obedience and pride, dedication, organization and coordination, independence, stress coping skills, learning skills, confidence, attentive, initiative, dedication, responsibility, problem solving, dedication, hard work, teach others, practical, daring for adventure,communication skills, career interests, diligent, 21 kinds of competency.6. Through behavioral event interview data extraction, obtain space launch soldiers’ competency is consequence of teamwork, responsibility, commitment, dedication, organization and coordination, stress coping skills, communication, etc.Conclusion:1. Compared competence characteristics between space launch soldiers and Chinese ordinary soldiers, space launch soldiers are better than ordinary soldiers. There are big difference in rank, age and education background.2. Space launch soldiers competency include teamwork, responsibility, accept the consequences, dedication, organization and coordination, stress copying, communication etc.3. Space launch soldiers’ Competence characteristics issteady.
