Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between albuminuria and diabetic peripheral neuropathy through the comparison of urinary albumin creatinine ratio, 24 hours urinary protein in patients with DPN and analysis the characteristics about the distribution of TCM syndrome. Methods One hundred and twelve hospitalized patients with type 2 DM, collected their age, gender, weight, height, course of disease, symptom of TCM, evaluated their TCSS and TCM syndrome integral. Clinical observation consisted of urinary albumin creatinine ratio, 24 hours urinary protein, and other clinical observation. Analysised the association between TCSS and uACR,UTP,then we divided patients to 4 groups according to the TCSS, and analysed the levels of uACR and UTP and the distribution of TCM Syndromes among these groups. Results 1.The levels of uACR and UTP in DPN group were significantly higher than non DPN group(P<0.05), the levels of uACR in Severe DPN group and moderate DPN group were significantly higher than mild DPN group(P<0.05), the level of UTP in Severe DPN group was higher than mild DPN group, the difference was significantly (P<0.05).2.The results of corelationship:there was a positive correlation between the level of TCSS with course of disease, uACR, UTP, TC, BUN, Scr, (r=0.443, r=0.360, r=0.324, r=0.576, r=0.589, r=0.188, r=0.369, r=0.438, P<0.05).3. The results of multiple stepwise regression analysis:the order of the influence on the level of uACR were:TCSS> serum creatinine>HbA1C;the order of influence on the level of UTP were:TCSS> blood urea nitrogen; The increase of TCSS was a risk factor that levels of uACR and UTP were rised.4.With the syndrome types changed from Qi deficiency and blood stasis, yin deficiency and blood stasis, phlegm-stasis in channels to Liver and kidney deficiency syndrome,TCSS,ACR,UTP of patients increased.Because of the small number of Liver and kidney deficiency syndrome, there was no statistics difference between this group with other groups. Conclusion 1.The greater the TCSS score, the higher level of ACR and UTP.2.The increase on TC and TG maybe a risk factor of DPN and DN.3.Qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome and yin deficiency and blood stasis syndrome were the most common syndromes at early stages of DPN, as the disease progresses, the proportion of phlegm-stasis in channels syndrome, Liver and kidney deficiency syndrome gradually increased.4.With the syndrome types changed from Qi deficiency and blood stasis, yin deficiency and blood stasis, phlegm-stasis in channels to Liver and kidney deficiency syndrome, the ACR and UTP of patients increased.
