Object:Through observing the varying pattern of the TCM symptoms of sick sinus syndrome patients before and after the implantation of artificial cardiac pacemaker, to provide the theoretical basis for the effect that the TCM has on the clinical symptoms and heart functions of patients implanted with artificial cardiac pacemakers. Methods:Select 109 cases of sick sinus syndrome patients who have been implanted with permanent artificial cardiac pacemakers in the Vasculocardiology Department of Kunshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Conduct TCM discernment and TCM symptoms rating before the surgery and one week after the surgery. Meanwhile, measure the level of blood BNP by the immunity fluorescence method before the surgery, one week after the surgery, and three months after the surgery. Do statistic analysis of the changes in the rate of TCM symptoms, symptoms rating, and the BNP level before and after the implantation of artificial cardiac pacemakers for sick sinus syndrome patients.Results:(1)The change in TCM syndrome:Before the implantation of cardiac pacemakers for sick sinus syndrome patients, the TCM syndrome differentiation focuses mainly on XinQi deficiency, XinYang congestion, and focuses secondly on XinYin deficiency. Their corresponding rates are 37.6%、32.1%、14.7%.After the implantation of cardiac pacemakers, the TCM syndrome differentiation focuses mainly on XinYin Deficiency. The rate is 33.0%. It focuses secondly on XinQi deficiency and XinYang congestion. Their corresponding rates are 29.4% and 27.5%.After the implantation of cardiac pacemakers, the rate of XinYin deficiency’s happening is bigger than that before the surgery (P<0.05). Meanwhile, XinQi deficiency and XinYang congestion manifest no significant variation after the surgery.(2)TCM syndrome integral:After the implantation of cardiac pacemakers, the TCM syndrome integral of XinQi deficiency and XinYang congestion both decrease significantly (44.06±6.19vs25.50±6.76,30.67±3.69vs18.47±4.97). There is statistical variation before and after the surgery(p<0.05).(3)The level of blood BNP:the blood BNP level of XinQi deficiency and XinYang congestion patients decrease significantly before (170.58±65.25,183.88±69.23), one week after (138.42±43.43,145.12±49.21), and three months after (94.81±26.74,99.92±31.52) the surgery. The differentiation is significant(P<0.05); XinYin deficiency manifests no significant variation one week (180.62±57.37) and three months (164.02±69.23) after the surgery compared with before (173.42±73.82) the surgery. The contrast between before and after the surgery is not statistically significant (P>0.05).Conclusion:The implantation of cardiac pacemakers for Sick Sinus Syndrome has a significant impact on TCM sydrome differentiation. It significantly improves the symptoms of patients of XinQi deficiency and XinYang congestion.
