Objective:To assess the oral health—related quality of life(OHRQOL)in Sjogren’s syndrome patients with Oral health impact profile--14(OHIP-14).To assess the correlation of Oral Health related Quality of Life of Sjogren’s syndrome patients and the mental health state by Self- Rating Anxiety Scale, Self- Rating Depression Scale and OHIP- 14.through the research we try to provide some theoretic references to the etiological study of Sjogren’s syndrome and treatment, with the aim of improving the quality of life of SS patients and the effects of clinical treatment. Methods:In this research, all of 58 cases, who were definitely diagnosed SS by the labial gland biopsy and inspection etc, were obtained from the Dental clinic of The first hospital affiliated to the Dalian Medcial university.the time period is 2013.03 to 2014.09.58 cases selected from the average person and matched general data, such as the gender, with SS were used as a comparison group. SAS,SDS and OHIP-14 were administered to the mental health state and Oral Health related Quality of Life of patients and control group.Record the scores of all the valid scales. Data were analyzed using SPSS19.0.Results:1. There are 53 women and 5 men in 58 cases patients of SS,their average age is 45.11±11.27. There are 52 women and 6 men in 58 cases patients of healthy controls group, their average age is 47.16±12.53.2. The median value of 22.50 was observed for Sjogren’s syndrome patients, significantly greater than the median value of 9.50 for the control group(P<0.05), it is a significant difference in the areas of unctions limitation, physical pain, and psychological barrier(P<0.05).3. There are three items is higher than control group in negative impacts proportion of each item.they are“Feeling nervous”,“Not satisfied with his own diet”,“Life is not so satisfactory”.The difference is statistically significant.4. The Self- Rating Anxiety Scale total value and Self- Rating Depression Scale total value respectively with OHIP- 14 total value were positively correlated(P<0.05).The correlation coefficient between anxiety and OHRQOL is 0.491. The correlation coefficient between depression and OHRQOL is 0.572.Conclusion: 1. OHRQOL has a negative impact on SS patients. It is mainly reflected in oral functions limitation and psychological barrier. In the clinical treatment,we shoud pay more attention to the problems of oral oral functions limitation.2. OHRQOL level of SS patients and the degree of anxiety and depression were positively correlated. When we apply the clinical medicine treatment to SS patients, the psychological intervention should be applied at the same time,so that the medicine treatment is combined with psychological therapy effectively.
