A Randomized Clinical Trial Of Efficacy Comparison And Safety Evaluation For Electro-acupuncture And Prucalopride Succinate Tablet In The Treatment Of Severe Chronic Functional Constipation

Objective:To evaluate and compare electro-acupuncture with Prucalopride Succinate tablet in treating severe chronic functional constipation for its clinical efficacy and safety, improving the quality of life of patients。Methods:After preliminary screening,40 selected cases met the clinical criteria for the study of the subject, and were randomly divided into experimental and control groups, each group with 20 cases. The treated group received acupuncture treatment, while the control group was subjected to the Prucalopride Succinate tablet. Before and after treatment observing changes in the number of bowel movements (completely independent) changes on the quality life of the patients were also checked. Electro-acupuncture and Prucalopride Succinate tablet’s safely was also a criteria.Results:The 40 cases were reviewed using the statistical analysis, after four weeks of treatment, the scores were characterized using CSMB method, including (self in bowel movement) which differed to the previous one at (P<0.05), indicating that both treatments had better results, but the results of electro-acupuncture were better. Using Bristol’s method of differentiation on the nature of the bowel, treated group had better results, with less side effects, indicating that electro-acupuncture is safe and accurate.Conclusion:1. Acupuncture and Prucalopride Succinate tablet improves severe chronic functional constipation, curing bowel smooth movement, nature and accuracy, together with the function quality of life of the patient.2. Electro-acupuncture’s curative effect is better than Prucalopride Succinate tablet, the side effect is also less, improves and gives much effect in the treatment of severe functional constipation.
