Objective:The aims of this study were to investigate the caregiver reaction of cancer patients and analyze its influencing factors, and to explore the relationship among coping strategies, fatigue and caregiver reaction. Methods:This study applied cross-sectional survey reseach. By convenient sampling, 192 cancer caregivers in the First Affiliated Hospital of Da Lian Medical University from March2014 to July 2014 were included in this study. This Questionnaire included Caregiver Reaction Assessment(CRA), Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ) and Fatigue Scale-14(FS-14) were applied to assess caregiver reaction, coping strategies and fatigue of cancer caregiver, respectively. The data were analyzed by SPSS17.0software. Statistical methods including t test and one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA)were used to compare the caregiver reaction of cancer caregivers. Pearson correlation coefficient was used to analyze the relation among coping strategies, caregiver reaction and fatigue. The risk factors were identified by using multiple linear regression model.Results:(1) The findings show that, 50.5% of the caregivers were female, and 49.5% were male. There was no statistical significance between male and female in any dimension of caregivers reactions. The average age of cancer caregivers was 52.59±13.16. The level of caregiver reaction was related to caregivers’ age, education degree, occupation, family income.(2) The average score of self-esteem dimension was(4.15 ± 0.48), which was considered high degree. Disrupted schedule(average score 3.61±0.69) was the most serious problems in the caregiver burden dimensions. The scores regarding Disrupted Schedule, Financial Problem, Health Problem, Lack of Family Support were 3.61 ±0.69,3.21±1.04,3.08±0.81, 2.44±0.72.(3) The average score of positive coping strategies was 1.69±0.53, while the average score of negative coping strategies was 1.26±0.47. Both positive and negative coping strategies were lower than domestic norm, with statistical significance(P<0.05).(4) The average score of physical fatigue was 5.90±2.17,while the average score of mental fatigue was 2.86±1.69, physical fatigue were higher than domestic norm, with statistical significance(P<0.01).(5) Significant positive correlation was found between self-esteem dimension and positive coping strategies(P < 0.01). The health problem, financial problem, lack of family support were negatively correlated with positive coping strategies(all P<0.05).The health problem, disrupted schedule, financial problem were positively correlated with negative coping strategies(P<0.01). Disrupted schedule, financial problem, health problem, lack of family support were positively correlated with physical fatigue and mental fatigue(P<0.01).(6) The Linear Regression analysis showed that the caregiver burden of cancer caregivers was closely related to health problem, cargiving time, coping strategies, number of helpers and lack of family support.Conclusion:(1) Cancer caregivers had a lot positive feeling had been obtained through care. The problems of disrupted schedule were evident in cancer caregivers, while lack of family support was relatively minor.(2) Positive coping rather than the negative coping were used by cancer caregivers.(3) The level of cancer caregiver reaction of was related to their coping styles. Positive coping was helpful to decrease the burden of cancer caregives and improve positive feeling, while negative coping may increase the burden of caregivers.(4) The influence factors of cancer caregivers’ fatigue were health problem, cargiving time, coping strategies, numbers of helper and lack of family support.
