OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to analysis of caregiver burden,coping strategies and social support of primary family caregivers of patie-nts with the hypertensive Merger coronary heart disease in community,then provided a theoretical basis for a stress coping strategies intervent-ion model.DESIGN:Convenience sampling was used to extract196family caregivers ofthe hypertensive Merger coronary heart disease patients in Twenty-fivecommunities in Fuzhou City.The Self-designed questionnaire, the Chineseversion of Zarit Burden Interview(ZBI),Simplified Coping Style Questionn-aire(SCSQ) and Social Support Rating Scale were applied to assess caregiverburden,coping style of primary caregiver and Social Support level ofpatients with hypertensive Merger coronary heart disease.RESULTS:1.60%of the196family caregivers of hypertensive Merger coronary heartdisease patients without pressure,the one said have certain pressureaccounted for33.8%.90.9%of family caregivers with pressure said that theirburden were in the middle and severe level,their personal burden higer thanrole burden.Their pressure level and personal burden related to socialsupport level,the patient’economic sources.In addition,the pressure levelis associated with family caregivers attitude towards the disease;Theirrole burden related to the relationship of patient,Educationallevel,marital statusthe and level of social support.The family careg -ivers with pressure’s total score of ZBI pressure,the level of ZBIpressure,the personal burden and the role burden related to the level ofsocial support,objective support,subjective support and the availabilab-ility of social suppor.2.The family caregivers of hypertensive Merger coronary heart diseasepatients’positive coping styles score higher than the norm,Negative copingstyles score with the norm had no difference in the statisticalanalysis.Factors related to the positive coping not only ineluding thepatients,family history for hypertensive and educational level,but alsoineluding the Other diseases,the personal burden,the social support,theobjective support of family caregivers.Factors related to the negativecopingng ineluding the patients,medical expenditure,religious belief andseveral chronic disease of family caregiver.3.social support for the family caregivers of hypertensive Merger coronaryheart disease patients were higher than the national norm,60.6%of thefamily caregivers’social support were in the middle level.The total scoreof social support,the level of social support,objective support and theavailability of social support were positively related to positivecoping,but not related to the Negative coping of family caregivers.4.The stress experiences of family caregivers of hypertensive Mergercoronary heart disease patients were extracted four topics:Heavypressure,Self-contradiction,The power of care,Adapt to the role.CONCLUSION:The family caregivers of hypertensive Merger coronary heart diseasepatients preferred to take active coping styles, but there are still a partof the family caregivers adopted negative coping styles in the process ofcare.The family caregivers only a few had pressure, but the familycaregivers with pressure said that their burden were in the middle and severelevel,the most of family caregivers’ssocial support were in the middle level.Community health service personnel, patients, other family membersshould be given to the family caregiver enough humanities concern andsupport,guided the family caregivers to adopt positive coping style todeal with problems, avoid the negative coping style.
