ObjectiveStudy the training mode of Balint group, explore the intervention effect of Balint group on the empathy, emotional intelligence and communication capabilities of nurses. Provide new training methods for training nurses to enable them to understand and help patients better, realizing high quality nursing thoroughly.Methods1. Select 30 nurses in a Third- level Grade A hospital of Dalian C ity, and conducted Balint group training 12 times for them during August 2014 to January 2015. Training 10 people per group for 1.5 hours each time, Balint group training mode includes case report, case discussion, scenarios simulation and role-playing and so on. Before and after the training, we measure 30 nurses with empathy scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale, nursing clinical communication skills Scale.2. Using self-control method, Data were analysised by SPSS 20. 0.Results1. Empathy total score and each dimensionality score of nurses before and after training and scores were not significantly different(P>0.05); the correlation between the dimensions before and after training was not significant(P>0.05), the correlation between the empathy total score before and after training was positive(P<0.05).2. Emotional intelligence total score and other dimensionality scores such as emotional perception, emotion management and emotion use after training were significantly higher than that of before training(P<0.05). Self emotion management scores before and after training were not significantly different(P>0.05). The correlation between the emotional perception before and after training was positive(P<0.05). The correlation of other dimensionality scores before and after training was not significant(P>0.05).3. Communication ability score and emotional perception score after training were significantly higher than that of before training(P<0.05).The ability scores of verbal communication, emotional support, emotional support, non-verbal communication, communication in dilemma situation were not significantly different(P>0.05). The correlation between the the communication ability scores before and after training was positive(P<0.05). The correlation between dimensionality scores was not significant(P>0.05).4. The emotional consciousness improvement of undergraduate nurses were more significant than junior college nurses(P<0.05). The emotional perception difference before and after training of different age, working years, personnel status, marital status nurses was not statistically significant. Emotional intelligence, emotional use, emotion management in others of nurses with different demographic characteristics before and after training was not statistical significantly different. Conclusions1. Balint group training mode can improve nurses’ emotional intelligence capabilities, including emotional perception, emotional management of others, ability to use emotions. But the ability of self emotion using is not obvious. Balint group training model can also improve the communication skills of nurses, including the ability to perceive emotions. The emotional consciousness improvement of undergraduate nurses were more significant than junior college nurses.2.Balint group training mode provide a new training way for training nurse, improving not only the nursing quality and the humane care ability, but also the level of nursing care. The results of the present study can surely improve nursing teaching and nursing working.
