Balint was born in Hungary, who is a famous psychoanalyst of Budapest school, anoutstanding representative of the Independent School of Great Britain object relationstheory. He promotes the development of object relations theory both theoretically andpractically. Balint advocates a positive view of human nature in psychoanalytic andemphasis the interaction between doctor and patient.In the early1950S, Balint set up Balint group, which help general practitioner toidentify and solve the various problems encountered in treatment by group discussion.He also initiated international Balint movement and established Balint group in manycountries. In1972, The international Balint federation was set up, which has evolvedinto23countries.In response to the increasingly serious problem of the contradictions and conflictsabout doctors and patient in our country, in order to build a harmonious society andalleviate the occupational burnout or even depletion of health care workers and otherrelevant staff, this paper uses literature review and case analysis to sort the theoreticaland practical method of Balint group, which is of great significance in the tensionsituation of doctor and patient.The result shows that Balint group is suitable for China’s health and educationsystem, which can significantly improve the doctor-patient relationship and theselfawareness of the doctor. However, due to cultural differences, there are still somedifficulties in the implementation of Balint group. Balint group work methods can beused as a medical social worker into the medium of the hospital.
