[Abstract]Objectives:Combing through the developmental history of the new rural cooperative medical collaboration system (NCMS) in Zhejiang Province from the perspective of the insured farmers, the study aims to analyze and evaluate their satisfaction with NCMS, based on the objectives of NCMS and for the purpose of improving farmers’ health.The theoretical model is proposed to reveal factors that influence participating farmers’ satisfaction with NCMS, and provide reference for the further optimization and the sustainable development of NCMS in Zhejiang province.Methods:Based on the general theories and methods of satisfaction studies, the study discussedthe theoretical basis of farmers’ satisfaction with the new rural cooperative medical system in Zhejiang Province. Combining theoretical analysis and empirical evaluation, farmers’ satisfaction was measured. We analyzed the influencing factors on farmers’ satisfaction, and further proposed the corresponding directional policy recommendations.Results:Findings indicated that farmers’ overall satisfaction with the new rural cooperative medical care system was average. They had a lower evaluation on the level of medical treatment. Thequality of medical services was their major concern, and also the main factor influencing their satisfaction with NCMS.It is helpful to improve the farmers’ satisfaction by actively carrying out primary health care prevention and public health services.
