ObjectivesWith shorter average length of stay and less time of health education in hospital, the quality and degree of satisfaction of patient health education are affected. So health education in pre hospital which can alleviate the burden of health education in hospital is carried out to improve the effect of health education. As the health education in pre hospital is a new field, some aspects still need to constantly improve and perfect. This study is based on collective health education in pre hospital, and to constructing a new system:quasi-collective health education in pre hospital for patients to operation, which is not only effective, but also more acceptable and efficientMethodsQuasi-experiment is used in this research. There are three stages to construct the education system:①investigating the demand of patients to operation for health education in pre hospital;②designing and implying the quasi-collective health education in pre hospital for patients to operation;③evaluating the outcomes of health education for patients to operation in pre hospital.Stage①:The group A and B of experts make the questionnaire:<demand of patients to operation for health education in pre hospital>. And by accidental sampling,135patients to be hospitalized are selected in a hospital in Zhejiang province, to investigate the demand of patients to operation for health education in pre hospital.Stage②:According to results of the questionnaire in stage①, a group of experts constructs quasi-collective education. And429patients to operate are selected to accept health education in pre hospital. They are divided into group I, group II and group III. Patients in group I accept collective health education. Patients in group Ⅱ accept quasi-collective education on hospitalization notices. Patients in group Ⅲ accept quasi-collective education on hospitalization notices and some general perioperative knowledge.Stage③:The group B and C of experts make the questionnaire:<outcomes of health education for patients to operation in pre hospital>. And all of the429patients in Stage②also need to complete the evaluation of health education outcomes by do the questionnaire with their responsibility nurses.Results1The demand of patients to operation for health education in pre hospitalThe overall demand score of95%confidence interval on hospitalization notices is3.45-3.69. And the score of every entry is above3.18. The overall demand score of95%confidence interval on perioperative knowledge is3.22-3.36. And the score of every entry is above2.94. For the duration of hospitalization notices, less than15minutes is more acceptable (50.37%), and15-30minutes is the next (43.70%). For the duration of perioperative knowledge,63.70%patients prefer less than15minutes, and36.30%patients prefer15~30minutes. As the form of hospitalization notices, paper and video are better received (84.82%). While face to face counseling and paper are more popular for the form of perioperative knowledge. There,90.37%patients tend to consult with nurses for hospitalization notices. While for perioperative knowledge,71.85%patients tend to seek advice from doctors, also hope that the teaching staff as the doctor (71.85%).2The outcomes of health education for patients to operation in pre hospitalCompared to group Ⅰ, group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ get higher overall scores on hospitalization notices (P<0.05) and scores on8entries (P<0.05). But there is no difference on the level of perioperative knowledge scores (P>0.05). Group Ⅰ takes less time to finish the education of hospitalization notices (P<0.05), while group Ⅲ takes less time to finish the perioperative knowledge education (P<0.05). Finally, Group Ⅱ takes more time to finish all the education (P<0.05).As the satisfaction of pre hospital health education, group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ get better overall scores (χ2=29.62, P<0.05). The overall scores’95%confidence intervals of group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ are3.35~3.41and3.29-3.37, respectively. While group Ⅰ only get1.95~2.09. And group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ get better scores on the entries of voluntary, form, duration (P<0.05). ConclusionThe health education for group Ⅱ-quasi-collective education on hospitalization notices, is proved to be more acceptable and efficient. So quasi-collective education on hospitalization notices is the best health education system in pre hospital for patients to operation.
