Objective: To investigate the feasibility, clinical effects andthe essentials of diagnosis and treatment of the accessoryprocess positioning single needle puncture of percutaneousvertebroplasty in the treatment of osteoporotic vertebralcompression fractures (OVCF).Methods: All OVCF patients were successfully completed surgery, postoperative symptoms improved significantly, pain relief, return to normal life, single vertebral body operation time was25-40min,average35min;bone cement injection volume was3.0-6.0ml,average4.6ml,Postoperative pain was significantlyreduced or disappeared, restore normal life. Patients withpostoperative VAS score was3.1±0.7,1weeks after operationwas1.8±0.7,3months after operation was1.5±0.6,6monthsafter operation was1.6±0.6, all OVCF patients before and after surgery compared with statistical significance (P <0.05),and1week、3months,6months results there were nostatistically significant differences (P>0.05). After themodified Macnab evaluation excellent rate reached97%. In allcases, no puncture failure, infection, pulmonary embolismoccurred in68patients,3cases bone cement leakage of occurred, but no clinical symptoms, no bone cement leakage in vertebralcanal, no clinical symptoms. Results: all patients were successfully completed theoperation, the patients improved obviously with VAS score, themodified Macnab score, preoperative and postoperative patientswith statistical significance (P <0.05)in1weeks,1monthsand3months after surgery. There were3cases of bone cementleakage found, but no clinical symptoms occurred. Conclusions: accessory process positioning single needlepuncture vertebroplasty treatment of osteoporotic compressionfracture has the advantage of more lateral puncture point whichcan make the puncture end point easier to get to the middle lineor across the midline, which can obtain better bone cementdispersion in single needle puncture, reduce the complicationsand the operation time, and achieve good effect, it is worthyof clinical application.
