Objective: To analyze the clinical results of the treatment of osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures by using percutaneous vertebroplasty and hyperextension body position. Methods: 37 cases treated by percutaneous vertebroplasty in recent 3 years were collected in this study.Their symptom of pain before and after operation was quantified by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Their rates of vertebra compression and cobb's angles before and after operation were surveyed. The follow up period was 6 months. Compare the VAS scores and the image data before and after operation. Then estimate the clinical results of the treatment. Results: There was significant difference in the VAS scores and the rates of vertebra compression and the cobb's angles before and after operation. There was no significant difference in the rates of vertebra compression and the cobb's angles between after operation and follow up. Conclusion: A satisfactory result in relieving pain and rebounding vertebra could be achieved for those patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures by using the percutaneous vertebroplasty and the hyperextension body position with strict indications, carefully operation.
