Objective:To observe the safety and efficiency of the modified Huangqi Jianzhong Tang adopted to treat burning mouth syndrome which belongs to Spleen-yang and qi deficiency syndrome. Methods:Randomized and controlled trial methods were applied in the research. Using spssl7.0to generate random Numbers table,60patients who met the research standard of BMS were divided randomly into control group and treatment group with30patients respectively.Multivitamin and mineral tablets were employed by the control group and the Huangqi Jianzhong Tang for the treatment group. Both groups were observed for8weeks. The safety and efficiency was evaluated by comparing the VAS scores and TCM syndrome integral before and after the treatment. The data which conforms to normal distribution and branch homogeneity was dealt with t test statistical analysis, otherwise, it was analyzed by rank sum test; count data by chi-square test; level data by rank sum test.Results:(1) The total effective rate for the treatment group is71.42%; the control group total effective rate is50.00%, the treatment group total effectiveness prevailed the control group (P<0.05).(2)The total effective rate of TCM syndrome in treatment group is82.14%, while for the control group, it is40.00%, so the treatment group total effectiveness is better than the control group (P<0.05).(3) The treatment group and control group had no obvious adverse reactions. Conclusion:the modified Huangqi Jianzhong Tang can effectively relieve the pain of the patients with burning mouth syndrome, and ameliorate the TCM syndrome. It is effective and safe to use.
