Objective:This study is designed to verify if core strengthening plays a role in curing balance disorder. Two therapies namely electro-acupuncture and rehabilitation combined with or without the training of core muscles are performed to cure balance disorders after stroke under strict clinical regulation. The different efficacies of the two therapies both in middle treatment and post treatment are observed and evaluated. An effective, viable and secure way to improve balance ability after stroke is exploredMethod:In this study, we divided112patients who meet our standards into two groups, treatment group and control group in average, and each group has56cases. All patients were employed with conventional treatment of neurology, includinga regular rehabilitation training at the same time (electric acupuncture plus exercise therapy). On the basis of the control group, the treatment group receive core strengthening in addition. All patients receive two course of treatment, and each course consists ten treatments. And when a course is finished, all patients would take a two days rest.Fugal-Meyer Assessment, core muscles strength assessment, Berg Balance Scale, sheikh trunk control measurement, barthel assessment of living index, Stroke-specific quality of life scale would be taken to evaluate curative effect. We would evaluate all patients’ physical condition when treatment was not taken, ten times treatment was finished, and twenty times treatment was done.Results:1. Comparison in group:Compared with no treatment,Fugl-Meyer Assessment, manual muscle testing of core muscles, Berg Balance Scale score, sheikh trunk control measurement, barthel assessment of living index, Stroke-specific quality of life scale of treatment group and control group both improve a lot (P<0.05)2. Comparison between groups:There is a significant statistically difference between treatment group and control group in Fugl-Meyer motor function assessment test group, core muscles strength assessment, Berg Balance Scale score, sheikh trunk control measurement, Barthel living index assessment, quality of life scale dedicated stroke after treatment. And the treatment group’s clinical effect is better than the control groups’.3. Comparison between groups:Both treatment group and control group have the curative effect to improve the symptoms of Stroke patients. The difference of clinical curative effect between the two groups (progress rate) was statistically significant (P <0.05), and the treatment group’s clinical effect is better than the control group’s.Conclusion:Both electric acupuncture plus rehabilitation combined with core strengthening and electric acupuncture plus rehabilitation only can improve the balance disturbance after stoke, but electric acupuncture plus rehabilitation combined with core strengthening has a better clinical effect, it can improve motor function, heart muscle strength, and balanced capacity of hemiplegic patient after stoke more significant than the group which doesn’t adopt core strengthening. At the same time, through correlation analysis, we can get that the improvement of balance of balance function can help amelioratemotor function and activities of daily living of stroke patients, and is positive correlation of the quality of patients’daily life. So,it is necessary and of great value to carry out this study.
