Short Term Result Of Anterolateral Single-Bundle Posterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction With Remnant Preservation

Purpose:To investigate the operative techniques and evaluate the short term result of anterolateral single-bundle posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction.Material and method:From July2012to November2013,24cases (18men and6women, whose age is between18to63and the average age is44)of PCL rupture were treated with anterolateral single-bundle PCL reconstruction with remnant preservation, the tendons were fixed with endobutton at the femoral side and with interference screw at the tibial side; floats of stump were cleaned up, and the structural stability and continuity ligament remnants were preserved. All patients were followed up as scheduled after operation. The stabilization were evaluated with posterior drawer test. The effects and fuction were evaluated with Lysholm, Tegner and IKDC score.Results:Primary healing was obtained in all incisions; no early complication occurred after operation.24patients were followed up for5to12months with an average of7months. Posterior drawer test was negative in23cases, only1case with1degree positive posterior drawer test. Lysholm score were remarkable improved from preoperative44.58±8.97scores to postoperative89.67±5.61scores (P<0.01).The tegner sport level were2.25±1.06preoperatively and4.75±1.60postoperatively(P<0.01).Based on IKDC score, there were13abnormal knees(grade C) and11severely abnormal knee(grade D) preoperatively; but after operation, there were19normal knees (grade A),4nearly normal knees (grade B)and1abnormal knees(grade C) at follow up (P<0.05).Conclusion:Arthroscopic single-bundle reconstruction of PCL with remnant preservation is a reliable method to restore the stabilization and function of the knee. remnant preservation technique could facilitate revasculization and reinnervation of the reconstructed ligament and maintain stability of knee joint and recover the stabilization and function of the knee better.
