Along with the gradually development of economic, there has been a great change in people’s diet structures and life styles seriously. Non-infective chronic diseases have become the main reason that threats people’s health. The morbidity of chronic diseases in middle and elderly aged people was extremely high. It increased the medical expenditure and brought in the heavy economic burden for individuals, families and our society. Our research aims to provide data for setting up a basic organization on health education in community through investigating the change of healthy knowledge, attitude and practice of elderly people under nutrition education and lifestyle interventions.OBJECTIVETo evaluate the improvement of nutrition and health knowledge, attitude and practice in the middle-aged and elderly residents who are getting the service of the nutrition education and lifestyle interventions.To explore the possibilities of providing nutrition education and lifestyle interventions in community.METHODS 210middle-aged and elderly residents who had accepted the nutrition education and lifestyle intervention for more than one year were investigated as the intervention group, and210ordinary middle-aged and elderly people were investigated as the control group on nutrition and health KPA by a self-designed questionnaire by investigators who had been trained at LIXIA, SHIZHONG, HUAIYIN, TIANQIAO, LICHENG district in Jinan from October2012to July2013in order to collect their information and evaluate their nutrition and health knowledge, attitude and practice; we analysis these data with SPSS19.0.RESULTSThe elderly people we interviewed are65.92±8.68years old by means. There are101men and303women, the ratio is1:3by gender; there are74.3%residents who have one or more chronic diseases. Their educational level is mostly under high school; their income level is mostly under¥3000, their outlay for health care is mostly under30%of all the expenses, most of them are enjoying the free medical service or the medical insurance for urban employees.The Intervention group got more obviously higher health knowledge score than the control group.(P<0.01) There were81%members of the intervention group who got over20scores at the chronic prevention knowledge field, which was much more higher than only56%members of the control group who got over20scores(P<0.01). Besides, the members of the intervention group got more obviously higher score than the control group at the chronic prevention knowledge field not only analysis by gender and profession, but also analysis by education and income(P<0.05).The members of the intervention group got higher score than those of the control group at the healthy attitude field.(P<0.01) There were79%members of the intervention group got over8scores at the health behavior field, which was much more higher than only58%members of the control group done(P<0.01). Besides, the members of the intervention group got more obviously higher score than the control group at the health attitude field by education and income(P<0.05).The members of the intervention group got higher score than those of the control group at the healthy behavior field(P<0.01). There were82%members of the intervention group got over5scores at the health behavior field, which was much more higher than only43%members of the control group done(P<0.01). Besides, the members of the intervention group got more obviously higher score than the control group at the health behavior field not only analysis by gender and profession, but also analysis by education and income(P<0.01).CONCLUSIONSThrough the research we found that the nutrition education and lifestyle intervention can improve the knowledge degree in the middle aged and elderly residents, and it can also change their attitude and make their lifestyle to a healthy direction.
