ObjectiveThe objective of this study was to set up the nursing intervention model of borderline hypertension patients among community-dwelling middle-aged and aged.Methods584 randomly selected people aged 50-64 years according to the diagnosis and the cases criteria were received different intervention in community nursing. Divided into two groups:intervention group and control group. Received self-control and randomly-control. The emphasis of intervention was behavioral intervention, nutritional intervention, exercise, relaxation training, and psychological nursing in community. The basic tactic of the intervention was controlling the high risk factors. The basic model of the intervention was comprehensive prevention.ResultThe results showed:(1) After the community based health education intervention, knowledge, attitude and behavior of the patients with borderline hypertension were significantly improved than before. (2) After they took exercise for three months, their systolic blood pressure (SBP) lowered significantly. So did SBP and diastolic blood pressure (DBF) after six months. (3) After nutritional intervention, the blood pressure, blood tnghycerides or \blood cholesterol of the middle-aged and aged were decreased significantly. The structure of dietary changed rationalization. (4) Effects of reducing blood pressure were significantly improved after using relaxation training than intervention only with behavioral intervention. (5) 31.6% of them had diverted to definite hypertension, with 27.2% had remained as borderline hypertension and 41.2% had reversed to normalization.ConclusioThe results of our study demonstrate that the community nursing intervention on patients of borderline hypertension can lower blood pressure, effect the outcome of borderline hypertension, improve their quality of life. The model of nursing intervention on borderline hypertension patients is feasible.
