Objectives To explore the problems and difficulties of MCH work in Pingliang city, and provide a scientific basis for the future work.Methods Analysis the situation of maternal and child health of Pingliang city in2013by collecting the annual data of women and children health care reported to the Pingliang city’s MCH, which jurisdiction of a district and six counties. And compare the key index in2013with2010, to learn the changes of Maternal and Child Health in the past three years.Results1. The number of employees rose slightly in Pingliang city’s maternal and child health agencies in2013(from309to340), the proportion of undergraduate education rose from27.31%in2010to38.82%in2013; proportion of senior staff rose from4.46%in2010to8.42%in2013.2. Child health indexs in Pingliang:(1) Neonatal mortality rate declined from8.42%o in2010to4.56%o in2013, lower than the2013average of0.13points in Gansu province (Gansu Province was4.69‰).(2) The infant mortality rate down from10.25‰in2010to6.13%o in2013, lower than the2013average of0.35points in Gansu province (Gansu Province was6.48%o).(3) The mortality rate of children under five years down from11.83%o in2010to7.77%o in2013. Higher than the2013average of0.04points in Gansu province (Gansu Province was7.73^).(4) Low birth weight down from2.22%in2010to1.37%in2013, lower than the2013average of0.71points in Gansu province (Gansu Province was2.08%).3. Child health care services indexs in Pingliang:(1) Pediatric visits rate was95.92%in2013, the average growth rate was2.01%compared with2010, and slightly lower than the2013average of Gansu Province (96.61%).(2) System management rate under three age was92.75%in2013, average growth rate was4.38%compared with2010, slightly lower than the2013average of Gansu province (93.03%).(3) Child health care management rate of seven years old in2013was slightly higher (93.11%) than the average of the same year in Gansu Province (92.18%).(4) Six months of breastfeeding rate in2013reached95.69%, higher than the average of Gansu Province (94.31%).(5) Moderate to severe malnutrition rate of0-5year-old in2013was0.83%, significantly lower than the average of the same year in Gansu Province (2.08%).4. Women’s health and health care indexs in Pingliang:(1) The overall prevalence rate of common diseases in women in2013was42.77%, and the prevalence rate of vaginitis accounts20.68%firstly, consistent with the average level in Gansu province.(2) Maternal built card rates, early detection rate, yield detection rate, postpartum visits rate, system management rate, hospital delivery rate and new delivery rate in2013were higher than average level in2010, which consistent with the average level of Gansu Province in2013.(3) Maternal mortality rate was12.67/100000in2013, significantly lower than Pingliang in2010(37.35/100000) and the average mortality of Gansu Province in2013(22.95/100000), the leading cause of death was obstetric hemorrhage, consistent with Gansu Province.Conclusions1. Maternal and child health situation and health services in2013improved significantly compared to2010, maternal and child mortality rates was decreased greatly compared with2010; indicators of maternal and child health services continued to improve.2. Maternal and child mortality in county area exist obvious regional differences.Proposals1. Make the "maternal and child health services to create activities" for the carrier in2014to guide local government attention to maternal and child health work effectively, increase financial, material and human resources, information and other inputs, and to provide protection for maternal and child health organizations to work.2. MCH base that relatively weak counties should be given more care and helping, to strengthen the communication and contact of basic units, and make the target task completed properly and orderly.3. Strengthen professional training of existing staff, organization exchange, learning and education timely, improve professionalism, and encourage employees to improve the education level positive through a variety of ways; introduction of relevant professionals under conditions permitting, especially technical backbone, improve their service levels and promote common progress.4. Strengthening health education and health promotion of reproductive groups.
