Abstract/Summary:
objective:To observe the effection of preoperative rehabilitationtreatment on early functional recovery of knee joint after total kneearthroplasty, and discussing the advance of preoperative rehabilitationtreatment after total knee arthroplasty. Methods:In this prospective, randomized controlled study,102patients were recruited who receivedprimary unilateral total knee arthroplasty at People’s hospital of Sichuanprovince between January2013and October2013and agreed toparticipate in it. On admission, patients were randomly divided into thefollowing two groups.Treatment group,in which patients receivedperioperative rehabilitation treatment besides conventional orthopaedictreatment; Control group, in which patients only had conventionalorthopaedic treatment.Doctors and nursers gave them a little guidance ondaily wards rounds. The knee function, wound recovery, the first time ofoff the bed and ability of daily life of all patients were measured atinterval time. Evaluation of clinical effectiveness used VAS scores,KSSscores and SF-36scores etc. AT last these dates were compared andanalysed by medical statistical software (SPSS17.0).Results: Fristly,There was no evident difference between two groups in the theirdistribution of the demographic and clinical messages(P>0.05).Secondly,by comparing with the control group, the treatmentgroup has a better situation in the wound recovery, the first time of off thebed, muscle strength(P<0.05), and get better general health, vigor, emotional function, body pain and mental health in ability of daily life12weeks later (P<0.05).Thridly,treatment group has better kneescore, function score and VAS score in the early postoperative period(P<0.05).At last, there was significant difference betweens two groupsin the incidence of DVT and inflection (P>0.05). Conclusion:Perioperative rehabilitation treatment plays a active role in promotingpatients’ early function of knee joint. It could effectively improve thepatients’ activity degree, muscle strength, mental condition, and providebetter conditions for ability of daily life. Theoretically perioperativerehabilitation treatment can decrease the incidence of DVT and inflectionof postoperative patients. But we did not observe it in this study beacauseof less time and case.
