Effect Of Early Postoperative Functional Recovery Of Acupuncture On Total Knee Arthroplasty

ObjectiveBy observing the effect of acupuncture on early functional recovery processes of total knee arthroplasty patients, to solve the activity and pain problems of the patients after total knee arthroplasty, as well as to shorter hospital stays and reduce medical costs, improve life qualities by providing an efficient method of treatment.MethodThe60patients after surgery met the inclusion criteria TKA (total knee arthroplasty, TKA) were randomly divided into two groups, the treatment group and the control group. Each contains30patients respectively. Three days after the surgery, identical non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and mechanism recovery therapy were given to the two groups as basic rehabilitation therapies, while the treatment group received acupuncture treatment in addition to the basic treatment. After2weeks of treatment, by recorded scales of the pain VAS and knee HSS scores, its clinical efficacy is evaluated and analyzed on the statistical software platform.Results①Before treatment, age, gender, pain, joint activities, HSS scores (P>0.05) between the two groups was not statistically significant.②After treatment, patients of treatment group have improved results of pain, joint activities and HSS score than that of the control group, the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).ConclusionThe efficacy of acupuncture is significant for early functional recovery of patients after total knee arthroplasty, as well as reducing pain and stiffness after TKA. This study can be used in future as one of the basic therapies in early functional recovery of total knee arthroplasty patients, since its satisfactory clinical results with little side effects, it is worthy of further promotion.
