Object: Collect clinical research literatures published in CNKI China periodical full-text database in the last decade(2003-2012) on the treatment of migraine using Chineseherbal medicines,and then arrange the relevant prescriptions. Using the data miningtechnology,analyse the sedative medicines’ application laws in the therapy of migraine.Methods: Collect clinical research literatures published in CNKI China periodicalfull-text database in the last decade on the treatment of migraine using traditional Chinesemedicines and arrange prescriptions of the articles meeting requirements. Establish adatabase using SPSS software and through the frequency analysis,obtain medicines ofhigh frequency and distribution principle of sedative medicines. Using cluster analysis,obtain the closely related cluster groups and cluster pairs containing sedative medicines.Analyse in depth the inherent meaning of medicine usage and summary the applicationlaws of sedative medicines in the treatment of migraine.Results: Obtain156target literatures,156prescriptions,193kinds of traditionalChinese medicines. The former62kinds of medicines’ frequency of occurrence is tentimes and above, which account for87%of the total medicines, revealing a concentrateddistribution of drugs. There are22kinds of sedative medicines in the high frequencymedicines, that account for22.6%.The former44kinds of medicines whose frequency ofoccurrence is20times and above contain14kinds of sedative medicines,that is aproportion of31.8%. The total sedative medicines have39kinds, which can be divided into8categories. By cluster analysis, obtain7cluster groups and9cluster pairs containingsedative medicines.Conclusion: Through the frequency analysis and cluster analysis of data mining technology, summary application laws of sedative medicines in migraine. First, sedativemedicines have multiple effects and can play a role of multi-drugs. Although the primaryrole of the most drugs is not sedative effect, this effect may play a supporting function andenhance the efficacy. Second, sedative medicines can be used in various syndrome types ofmigraine. What’s more, the summaried cluster groups and cluster pairs reflectcompatibility laws between sedative medicines and other medicines. In treating migraine,according to different syndrome types, applying different kinds of sedative medicines andtheir cluster groups and cluster pairs can also enhance the curative effect. Therefore,sedative medicines contribute to treating migraine, which provides some ideas for thetreatment of migraine.
