Objective:To make clear effect of chronic low back pain on multifidus muscle atrophy and fatty infiltration.Method:From2010March to2013August,a retrospective study In the Department of orthopedics in our hospital outpatient treatment of patients with low back pain,Selection of patients received3226subjects of primary low back pain,The initial treatment for lumbar MRI examination of468subjects,More than1years again lumbar MRI examination of125subjects. The object of study Whether to report the results of the study as normal, without significant changes in body weight and further screening, Finally31subjects in accordance with the requirements. The main symptoms of these patients is repeated back pain,Duration of more than1year,Check X-ray, CT, MRI showed no obvious abnormalities.Male19subjects, Female12subjects; age23-55years old, average36.4years old.MRI measurement of the same subject has different points in time multifidus change in net cross-sectional area and T2signal ratio.obtain VAS and Oswestry disability scores In the two MRI examination.Correlation analysis between the change and low back pain has two times measurement of multifidus net area and T2signal ratio of duration, VAS, Oswestry disability scores, draw the effect of low back pain on paraspinal multifidus muscle conclusion. Results:The same case second follow-up with net multifidus cross-sectional area is significantly smaller than the first follow-up visit, T2signal ratio is significantly higher than the first MRI examination (P<0.05),the two groups have obvious difference (p<0.05). net cross sectional area of multifidus muscles reduced rate and VAS scores, duration and dysfunction of Oswestry scores were positively correlated (P<0.001).The rate of increase in T2signal ratio and VAS scores, duration and the Oswestry disability scores were not correlated(P>0.05).Conclusion:Chronic low back pain is one of the most important reasons paraspinal multifidus muscle atrophy and fatty.duration,VAS and Oswestry disability of chronic Low back pain was positively correlated with the multifidus muscle atrophy.
